    WW's Adventure/Abberent/Trinity to be d20! (Merged w/other thread)

I like d20, but.... How many times are they going to release that setting anyway!?!?!?!?

    Which noble is best?

Consider this a vote of no-confidence for the SW/WoT noble. My problem with them is that they gave the character a "favor" to be used. That's great but when is it going to be used? DM: There is an evil lich lurking in the Tomb of Horrors! You are called on to investigate. PLAYER: Forget...

    Magic Items that grant feats

I think the whole thing is pretty cool. For example: a +1 spiked chain that carried within it the memories of its previous weilder, enabling the character to use the weapon without the exotic proficiency. I'd cost it at either +10,000gp or an extra "plus".

    FR gods, too many?

Once again the FR shows its own strength and weakness: its a patchwork setting. PRO: You can slap whatever you want in there and its not out of place. CON: It doesn't usually make a lot of sense. In fairness, I've witnessed that entire campaigns can progress where no one notices the internal...

    Those DND minis

When they stopped making them out of lead. Sorry, bro. Personally, I won't be picking up the D&D minis. This is nothing against the line. Its just that if I'm going to buy minis I'm going to expand my Warhammer collection.

Why don't Elves have any Kings?

They used to. But then this dude Sauron started handing out these rings and things went downhill from there.

    Just make it up

I've seen some DMs that were really bad at this. I mean, it sounds easy to "make things up" but I saw a PrC made up by a guy I know that just plain sucked. Among other things, he gave the PrC a free flame strike at every level starting at 6. It wasn't overpowered, it was just a loophole in an...

20 levels, 20 classes: Use or Abuse

I wouldn't have a problem with it. If the player sincerely wants to do this, why would I want to keep him from his fun?

    Which class is most powerful?

Yeah, gear plays a big part in these discussions and a fighter is more or less defined by his gear. Also, assumuing no bounes, a 20th level wizard is going to have about 60 or so hit points. A fighter is going to have around 120. But they both posses the ability to kill the other in one round.

Medieval gun powder as good as modern!

Potency is one thing, but Ye Olde Gunpowder had a nasty habit of being very unstable and exploding at odd times.

    Ohhhhh. I like that!

    Statistic Generation Methods

Well, maybe. But also as you note later on, the players simply aren't as good at many things. It forces a degree of specialization. It does, indeed, force a spellcaster to dump all his future points into his or her primary casting attribute. It really hurts the paladins and monks, which is...

Adventures don't Sell? Do you agree? Redman Article

For better or for worse I think we've entered an era where modules are largely promotional material or "mega-modules" that are in actuality campaigns. I don't think this is either good or bad, it's just the way things are right now.

    Statistic Generation Methods

25 point buy, with a perference for a "standard array": 15,14,13,12,10,8. It gives characters one weakness and a couple of moderate strengths. I don't like high stats for my players because I want them to be interdependant on each other. In the other game my group plays, the DM gives us 32...

    A swarm of Orcs?

I think its a wonderful idea for abstracting mass combat. The DM needs a large encounter, he produces a "swarm" of orcs along with a boss orc.

    dragon lance setting

Just a quibble: I only knew the FR from the Baldur's Gate CRPG and a few Dragon articles. There is a lot in the FRCS that I was left feeling rather lost. The example I always give is Cormyr and Sembia, two major countries that seem to have nothing to do with each other. From this forum I know...

    Woohoo!

Cool! That would also cover your cab fare from having to drive over to the airport to straighten things out! Neat!

    How to... ( miniatures)?

I also prefer black primer to white. If you're just starting you'll miss a bunch of spots and black primer hides it better. White primer makes the colors stand out more, but if you're just starting with minis you aren't as concerned about that. Citadel has a great line of paints. They are a...

[OT][Wife] My wife is going to kill me...

At the bar: Switch out your drinks. For every alcoholic beverage, have a Diet Coke, Ice Tea, Water, or whatever. Ginger Ale looks a lot like a mixed beverage so if you're worried about looking cool, it'll do. This will slow down your intoxication rate so you'll be less tempted to indulge...
