You know what would end all of the arguing and fighting?

I've seen this said a number of times... But never with any kind of source. Is this internet business knowledge, or based on some numbers they've provided? They already support D&D, several Board games, a minis game, and a number of card games- so WoTC can obviously support more then just the...

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D Next] Second Packet - initial impressions

How about we split the difference? Roll dice to determine the number of points you get to spend on your stats, or which array you gt to use.

Why do Halflings get damage bonuses?

This is why I've always hated the idea of modeling a game based on what seems "real." It's filled with the same types of issues that crop up with pseudoscience. One guy's current definition of what's most real might be vastly different then what some other guy believes, and arguments abound...

Future of D&D Keynote Speech [UPDATE - with video!]

I wouldn't be surprised if they went with some sort of ereader format (kindle, nook, or both) since they seem to be having good luck with that in their fiction department. But maybe they'd go with pdfs... Maybe they're really in "gain back some good will" mode so they'd go with whatever the...

    D&D 5E (2014) [D&D Next] Second Packet - initial impressions

Hey did you know that Bogart never actually says "Play it again Sam" in Casablanca? He says "Play it Sam" and "Again Sam" but never "Play it again Sam." :) I now return you to your daily enworld endless argument.

How did the 1e style work again? I can't remember.

Penny Arcade Podcast with Mike Mearls

If you ever watch any of the Penny Arcade TV videos the way they are talking, asking questions, and making jokes is very similar to the way they come up with their comics. It's just how they are, and how the think /process information. I wouldn't read anything "sinister" into it.

D&D 5E (2014) The Three Most Important Letters in 5th Edition

I've said this before but: While the OGL might be great for the players, and for 3p publishers... I'm not so sure it was really all that beneficial to WoTC. As an example- myself: I bought a few WoTC products durring the 3e era, however the vast majority of my money was spent on 3pp products...

are you more interested in 5e or numenera?

I've always been more of a fan of Monte's Flavor text then his rules crunch. His descriptions are always fun to read, and spark my imagination like crazy, but his rules tend to be... cumbersome? In my opinion.

AD&D, looking backwards, and personal experiences

Yeah- like I said it's probably just a phase, but who knows. There's also the feeling of "the unexplored" that a game like DCC is providing me. It's very reminiscent of when I first found D&D. It's not fair to D&D though- I think 2e had so much stuff that all editions forward have to play a lot...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons: "There's a "Mod" for that!

Depends on the particular fan you ask though I think. I would say I'm a fan of oldschool, but I've also been a fan of D&D in all of its forms. There are some out there though who would say it doesn't bear any resemblance unless it literally was just a reprint of 1e.

are you more interested in 5e or numenera?

I've always liked the concept of Thundar The Barbarian style post apocalyptic gaming... So Numenera sounds cool. I for one am most happy that a lot of different types of games are hitting the market. I like variety and choice.

AD&D, looking backwards, and personal experiences

Maybe it's just a phase I'm going though... But a lot of gaming these days is starting to feel too... "Polished?" Not sure I can really explain it. It just feels too thought out? (I know I know that's a bad thing?) Maybe it's just nostalgia for the games I grew up on? The ones with black and...

AD&D, looking backwards, and personal experiences

Same thing happened for me at the end of 3e... They started releasing stuff like the Bo9S, Tome of Magic, Incarnum, and what not. Prior to that it just always felt like more fo the same to me.

I think that ends up being more a question of how easy it is to modify/create monster stats.

Alternatively they might have thought with his proven leadership record, WoTC could become a much bigger brand by putting him in charge.

    Wandering Monsters: Orcs and Gnolls

I think it's a great idea. I DO wonder though... Why did the Gnoll one spend so much time talking about Orcs? It seems like with a document like this they'd want to make it so no matter what document you picked up you could read it and get a sense of the monster, without having to read any of...
