I think TSR was right to publish so much material

It definately sucks that there is no longer an official source of PDF's for WotC material both 3e and 4e. But a large volume of products is only a good thing if they are all being bought. The problem with TSR back in the day was that all those vast numbers of books didn't sell and bankrupted...

    Always with the killing

One way to reduce killing but not necessarily conflict or even combat in a game is to have an effective law enforcement system in your game setting and make it very clear that they are competent. In a modern game, there may be a focus on combat. But fighting it out in the city streets is a...

    The Pinnacle of your Collection

Probably my collection of dragon not so mini's (Colossal red, gargantuan white, black and blue) and my ancient original copy of book 2: BlackMoore.

    When it gets expensive!

Don't. Just hold off a bit. I know it can be an obsession, but it is ok to put a few things off until you are in a better position.

    Morrus gets married today!

There is more than one definition for "roleplay". ;)

Do you ever cut and run?

I had a quite frankly overpowered ranger (strait 3d6 in order, I managed to get 4 scores of 16 or higher where most everyone else had 1 or less) in one game that I was ready to sacrifice to allow the rest of the party escape. But no, after I died, they kept fighting, all but 1 character were...

WotC is *NOT* Evil: THE FINALE

After reading the first two pages and skipping the rest, I am going to chime in. They will never give you permission to post images on the web. For your own personal use in your own personal game at the game store? Absolutely no part of copyright law will prevent you from making copies of...

    Morrus gets married today!

Oh NO! In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. This is the Master-Ring, the One Ring to rule them all. This is the One Ring lost many...

    Do you like character building?

I like being able to make a character that reflects any of a wide variety of backgrounds with strengths, weaknesses and abilities that reflect that particular history. I do not like having to conform precisely to a particular adventurer party role and having no ability outside that role. This...

Favorite Post Apocalyptic d20 game or setting

Mine would be home brew d20 modern campaign setting that I started in early 2005. It took place ~30 years in the future, in the nearly abandoned city of New Orleans, devastated by corrupt politicians, global sea level rise, a series of massively devastating hurricanes and man made disasters such...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder beholder

The Beholder, Illithid and Displacer Beast are all IP claimed by WotC. The Displacer Beast was created by A. E. Van Voght (sp?) for short story "Black Destroyer" and later the novel "The Voyage of the Space Beagle". I have not really looked into the others myself, but I believe they have...

    Ring of Fast Healing

Similar to boon traps there are rules for use activated architecture in the 3e supplement "Stronghold Builders Guide". This gp cost for such architecture was generally half the recommended craft wondrous item cost.

Are you in the RPG closet?

Not in the gaming closet here. One of the advantages of working in Software is that everyone likes games of one kind or another. I used to be in the gaming closet when I was younger. My mother was a very conservative christian and believed that D&D was a form of devil worship. It didn't help...

    Updated Modern

spycraft and true 20 both carry the d20 modern torch reasonably well. But personally, i am going to be using d20 modern with heavy house rules in stead of either alternative.

You don't play 4E, but what did they get RIGHT?

I like: *Evening the power curve between character archetypes. *Reducing the impact of encounters per day on play style. I just don't like how they did it. *You are a unique butterfly, just like everyone else. *irrationally limited encounter powers.

Any ToB inspiration in Ultimate Combat?

You are also forgetting the half damage for physical damage to objects rule from 3.0 (did it get changed in 3.5? I dont recall). SO if you are doing ~100 damage a hit, you divide by 2, subtract 20 for ~0.75 inches of adamantine.

Coolest Thing PC's Have Ever Done

Our party of IIRC level 8s fought a huge black dragon. Our first encounter was on our way over a wall into an evil fortress. We were not prepared. We ended up running into the fortress to regroup. We loaded up on acid resistance and a few other buffs and headed back out. We peppered it with...

    Alternative alignments

d20 modern handles this with the allegiance system. Basically, you can choose up to three things you want to ally yourself with. This can be any of the alignments, a nation, a family, an organization, a person, an object, an ideal, a god etc. When interacting with people who share the same...
