Warriors and Warlocks (Sword and Ink gaming)

Been reading way too many fantasy comics these days and I'm really getting the urge to run a comic-book style campaign. What I'm wondering M&M players is, how close to the comic-book feel does Warriors and Warlocks come? Also, is the battle close to an action = a panel archetype?

    Would I enjoy D&D?

Well, I guess I'm doing it wrong because one of my 4E games is exactly what the OP is describing. *shrug*

    Would I enjoy D&D?

I agree, 4E would be perfect for what you're talking about. Might I suggest also looking into the Ravenloft boardgame as well.

    Would I enjoy D&D?

As long as your friends have similar ideas of what they like then you'll have yourself a lot of fun. I guess, only you can make that judgement so go for it. The worst thing that'll happen is you won't go back for a second session.

D&D & Comic Books Share A Similar Problem

I don't think two games are needed. I play both styles the OP is talking about and find that any game can do both fairly well. I run a game for a bunch of comic book dudes who don't really fit the gamer stereotype and our games would fit the "supers" for kids model. I also run a game for...

Rule Experts & Casual Players Mix Question

I think you should reserve the right to make rule judgements. If they are expert rules guys, that's cool but when their obsession with playing it by the book gets to the point of halting the game, then I think you need to make a call and move on. It's a tricky situation though, because those...

    Do Your Tastes Change?

Growing up, I was always really into DnD's brand of heroic high fantasy but now-a-days I'm more into darker lower-fantasy, so 4E's PoL and Dark Sun have really hit the spot in terms of taste. It's also spread over into other rpg's. When I first played Hero system, it was very 90's marvel but...

    MtG: Essentials.

A fine post from K R. R. Trollkin. Mod Edit: Clue #1: The supposed "troll" is doing some analysis, and saying something's actually cool. Clue #2: You have only insult to add to the discussion. Conclusion: You are the one being a jerk and troll, not him. Let's have no more jerkishness in...

    Human-only campaign

I play a lot of low-magic pseudo-medieval games, so human-only is kind of default. I love it, although we usually give the other PC races a place but as mysteriously sinister fey. I've never found it limiting in anyway, shape or form. Humans are usually designed as very flexible PCs. If...

    Which Basic?

Mentzer for me. It's still my favourite version of dnd and I still play B/E campaigns semi-regularly.

What religious pantheon do you use?

I like to use Celtic Tree Worship alot. I also like to mix Eastern and Western religions. In my current homebrew I have a church based on Christianity, if Christ was Buddha. I also combined the Lady of the Lake with Diana and Kwan Yin (with Shinto\sacrifice inspired rituals). Another feature...

Who is your favorite cover artist currently working?

Wayne Reynolds...which is annoying since everyone finds him annoying now. I also love the organic looking stuff by Jon Hodgson. His colouring is really cool.

    Looking for a Campaign World

You could also try Legend from Dragon Warriors. I'm currently writing a homebrew to deal with this type of quasi-historic/song of fire and ice campaign and found it a useful source of yoink-spiration.

Which D&D Campaign World did you enjoy most?

    Greyhawk, most definitely!

    Wild Talents

I would be interested in a review. Although, I've already decided to splash out on it. I'm still curious about the game at large.

    HLTW Homebrew.

Faiths and Religions I plan to add at least three more faiths. The Old Gods Those who still follow the Old Gods dare not speak their names. The spirits of the natural world vary like the people who live in their domains. These spirits are limitless in their number, with every object in the...

Are you in the RPG closet?

I currently study/work part time in advertising. It's very important I seem as cool as possible while at work, we call it the work face, because nobody wants a "nerd" working on their products. I can't wait to chuck the whole fake office persona in.

    Game Settings and Locales

A lot can be said for a cold and snowed in village. Usually in a forest clearing steeped in darkness for six months of the year. Villagers are forced indoors because of the harsh weather but their imaginations run wild with unexplainable noises from the dark, rumours of strange people and...

Players: it's your responsibility to carry a story.

No agenda. Your tone with words like "responsibility" and negitive conitations towards self-described "roleplayers" came off as bitter to me. Since you mentioned group troubles I assumed that was the cause. If I'm mistaken, I'm sorry but I still feel a great sesne of bitterness in your OP...

Players: it's your responsibility to carry a story.

I don't think it's anybodies responsibility. I haven't been DMing as long as you, however when somebody is constantly at odds with their group, it's usually a problem with them and not the players neglecting their storyline responsibilities.
