    D&D 5E (2014) Let's talk power words!

I do miss the constraints on spell casting. The Mage Slayer feat can make life tricky but.... Even spell most components can be hand waved away with a spell focus.

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's talk power words!

I think as a bonus action would lend it some real heft and make it much more attractive, for sure. Just to add to its advantages - as word, even unchanged, it can be used while constrained (I'm sure there's one caster who didn't take Misty Step for.. some hipster reason) or while climbing...

To MAX HP or not to MAX HP

We find average monster, average player HP totals works well. As the the dice for damage/monster attacks don't scale with their HP total, the result is they 'hit harder'. And combat is generally quicker (and nastier on a crit) all round, for both player and monster alike.

If you could only play one---

Goblin monk. Working with people and their problems day in and day out leaves me dreaming of enjoying life as a small, anti-social little git that punches things. And by things I mean people and their problems*. *...I jest. Ok, I mostly jest.....!

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's talk power words!

It's also very cheap, requiring no pricey (or any) components and can be cast without a spell focus. And unlike, say, Meteor Swarm or Prismatic Wall, it can be cast in a narrow space (the former) and while drawing considerably less attention (both), making it rather tactical*. Sure, a...

DM advice: How do you NOT kill your party?

Keep the beer and tunes going.

1st Level Cleric Features: War vs. Order

Aye, and I don't think this makes for a better game system. A wise business model? Perhaps - not my responsibility. I just.. really like R&D :D

1st Level Cleric Features: War vs. Order

I think the general counter to such initiatives is, 'Well ya know? You can homebrew as much as your table needs!' Typically followed by, 'Why do you need official recognition?'. Granted, I find such arguments miss the point but hey! The challenge with 'community rules' is simply - which...

1st Level Cleric Features: War vs. Order

Which is a shame, really. And I feel they're missing a trick. Though it does depend on their relationship with 5e. With the proliferation of digital media and tools, they could refine the 5e game system, making it simply better. Much better - They have access to a (seemingly) ever-growing...

    Worst character possible

Agoraphobic Tortle Bard. Hide in your shell all the time. Charm others to carry you. Insist the acoustics are simply better in there. Bonus points for bag pipes.

All rules are for power gaming

All rules are what you make of them - and each table has its different demands. As long as you and the table's demands are mutually serviceable, all is well. Now, if you don't play digital games at my level, then you are a filthy casual! ;)

    D&D 5E (2014) UA: Order Domain Cleric.

o-o Ok. Wrong.. thread. My bad. I mean - I agree with that guy/gal/misc. Yup, we need more of whatever they're on about!

What Official 5e Adventures have you played/run (POLL!)

Um.. kinda extreme. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'd 'never' play an adventure someone else wrote. At our table, we just haven't needed to. I'm sure if a copy of Adventure X dropped in my lap I'd try to find a way to incorporate it, or at least elements from it, into a session or five.

Anyone else tired of the miserly begrudging Rogue design of 5E?

Every time I set fire to my head, it catches fire. Anyone else tired of the flammability of heads? Obviously, heads are the problem. Correct suggestions? Anyone?

What kaiju was the rust monster based off of?

Aye, I agree, we're probably looking at a cheap knock-off rather than a 1-to-1, genuine article, fully licensed toy.

Do you multiclass for raw mechanical power or for character reasons?

What I'm saying is -- trying to fit the many character possibilities into a single class is a challenge*. The 'ole ' ingenuity is about working with less options, not more.' Which is debatable. But still -- trying to get the similar results with less? Yeah, that's a challenge in its own right...
