Level Up (A5E) Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition Is Coming!

I don't really care that much about new classes and races. What I want is the ability to flexibly customize my character so that I'm not tied to rigid sub-classes. This rigidity is probably my biggest gripe with 5e.

Strange Aliens and Fantastic Planets Abound in M-SPACE and the M-S Companion

Thanks for posting this, I'll definitely check out M-SPACE.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Jiangshi, The Dark Eye, The Fantasy Trip, and more

There's another German rpg that is similar to the Dark Eye in that regard: Splittermond. I don't think it has been translated into English yet, but you should check it out should a translation be made. Combat can get quite involved but I like that it doesn't have a turn-based system. Instead, it...

'Tales from Xadia' Dragon Prince RPG Announced

The effects of dark magic in Dragon Prince seem to be somewhat similar to the corruption rules that used to exist for Ravenloft (I don't know if they still do).

Worlds of Design: Is Combat Now Passe?

I think the type of game is still the determining factor as to how much combat takes place. D&D was (and is) inherently combat-heavy, but that wasn't the case with other games I played in the 80s such as CoC, Stark Trek and James Bond. I also loved playing Top Secret, where the main aim of the...

Worlds of Design: Is Combat Now Passe?

Yes, those were the days, when you heard announcements like these: "The following program is brought to you in living color on NBC. "

Worlds of Design: Is Combat Now Passe?

In my experience, combat is as prevalent now as it was 35 years ago even though many of the players in my group weren't even born yet back then.

RPG Crowdfunding News - Mythological Figures & Maleficent Monsters, Earthdawn, and more

Campo de Mitos could be interesting. However, it would also be nice if it included information on how to use the setting in the 1930s during the Spanish Civil War.

Upcoming Arthurian Movie The Green Knight Has An RPG

Why do they present a Punch & Judy show in the Dark Ages? It didn't even exist until the 17th century.

WotC Older D&D Books on DMs Guild Now Have A Disclaimer

The French have big noses (it's not surprising that Cyrano de Bergerac was French!). So are the French goblins - or perhaps gnomes?

WotC Older D&D Books on DMs Guild Now Have A Disclaimer

In a few years, there probably will be disclaimers for the disclaimers.

RPG Crowdfunding News – TORG Eternity, Paranoia, GURPS, D&D Starter Set, and more

I've backed the Journal d'Indochine. A CoC campaign in which all of the male characters are members of the French Foreign Legion certainly would be interesting. It would also provide a great explanation as to why the characters come from all over the globe.

TSR Jim Ward: Demons & Devils, NOT!

Some of the spellings should be changed to more correctly conform to the pronunciations. For example, how can "aas" be pronounced "ass"???

TSR Jim Ward: Demons & Devils, NOT!

I think there was a D&D slogan in the late 1990s that said: "What the hell is a Baatezu?" That pretty much summed up my attitude.

Explore the Winding Streets & Canals of Swords of the Serpentine!

Nice and obviously inspired by Venice. I don't know how well the Gumshoe system fits with fantasy, though.

The Ultra-Mysterious History of D&D's Iconic Monsters

"Absorba" sounds like the name for a brand of paper towel.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Mythic Odysseys of Theros Previews!

This should fit the bill. It's by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (c. 1750). Depicted is an entire satyr family, including a satyress and a satyr kid: Tiepolo's son, Giandomenico, created this rather unusual grouping. I don't know how a satyr and a centauress can have a satyr kid together, unless...
