Werewolf: the Apocalypse 5th Edition Trailer

I certainly would be interested in playing a werewolf (or other type of were-creature), I just don't care about all the "defenders of Gaia" thing. If I purchased the rules I would have to ditch the entire backstory and create a new one based on actual folklore. The price of this book (and any...

Cubicle 7 No Longer Producing The One Ring and Adventures in Middle Earth

It's certainly one of the great pitfalls of doing licensed products. Game companies are probably better off to use proprietary campaign settings or works that are in the public domain (such as those of H.P. Lovecraft). I often wonder how long FFG can keep it's Star Wars license. You never know...

Cubicle 7 No Longer Producing The One Ring and Adventures in Middle Earth

I think TOR is the third Middle Earth RPG to go down the drain. How sad.

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Psionics!

There is often a close correlation between new modules in Neverwinter Online and new books for 5e. NWO recently had a new module that focused on the gith race and illithids, so any psionics that WotC does may have to do with those two races rather than with Dark Sun.

WotC Brand New D&D Video Game from WotC's New Acquisition Tuque Games

Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Online are two completely different games. But, yes, the elimination of the Foundry in NWO was inexcusable. Also, the game wasn't as grindy at first. Compare, for example, the Sharandar campaign vs. Storm King's Thunder.

Unearthed Arcana New UA: 43 D&D Class Feature Variants

Some of these variants are pretty basic, so they should actually be included in an updated and expanded PHB.

    D&D General Gore in D&D

But I wish he didn't like to use the word "ululating" - it's such an ugly word! Here's a rather humorous look at Lovecraft's sometimes odd vocabulary: https://geekdad.com/2015/03/decoding-lovecraft/

    D&D General Gore in D&D

The Boats of the Glen Carrig always reminded me of a 1970s monsters flick, such as those involving giant ants, killer bees or whatever.

    D&D General Gore in D&D

I never claimed otherwise. I wanted to emphasize Lovecraft's difference to modern writers and their frequent focus on visceral horror. But Lovecraft's tone and many of his tropes are definitely in line with gothic and "gothic revival" styles, e.g. his fixation on creepy old houses, degenerate...

    D&D General Gore in D&D

The categorization of horror stories can get quite complicated. Lovecraft introduced the "cosmic horror" genre, although his narrative style is still very gothic in tone. By contrast, modern writers of Cthulhoid stories seem to prefer a more visceral horror style.

    D&D General Gore in D&D

I've never encountered much gore in D&D or similar fantasy games. Call of Cthulhu, on the other hand, relies to a certain extent on precisely such horrific descriptions, although you can overdo it even there.

TSR Jim Ward: Demons & Devils, NOT!

True. The popularity of D&D made it the target. Same as with the Harry Potter books later on.

TSR Jim Ward: Demons & Devils, NOT!

Yep, the media like to sensationalize everything and find easy answers.

WotC Brand New D&D Video Game from WotC's New Acquisition Tuque Games

I agree with you. I merely wanted to point out that the previous forays into a D&D-themed MMO were not exactly overwhelming, to say the least.

WotC Brand New D&D Video Game from WotC's New Acquisition Tuque Games

Should Tuque ever decide to create a D&D-themed MMORPG it wouldn't be any worse than what's already out there.

TSR Jim Ward: Demons & Devils, NOT!

That's interesting to know, considering how many RPGs have originated in Sweden.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Corpus Malicious, Doikayt, Arcana Academy, and more

Oops, I should have written "Primeval Thule", of course, instead of "Primordial."

TSR Jim Ward: Demons & Devils, NOT!

I think the satanic panic may have actually boosted D&D's sales. I and many other guys I know didn't really hear of the game until the James Dallas Egbert case (Egbert attended the same high school as I did). So my brother and I went out and bought the game and found out we liked it and began to...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Corpus Malicious, Doikayt, Arcana Academy, and more

The guide to Cities and Towns could be interesting. Scavenger (Numenera vibes) and Vast Kaviya look like they might be combinable with Primordial Thule.

WotC Brand New D&D Video Game from WotC's New Acquisition Tuque Games

I didn't know Gangbusters was a successful game. (Sorry, I couldn't help that).
