    Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e

Your first comment 'popularity does not equate to quality'. Let me turn that around. 5e edition, while not the end all and be all of D&D style games, is the first to have undergone extensive public playtesting and to have inputs from a variety of different people in the RPG industry. It's also...

Pathfinder 2 and the game Paizo should have made

A whiff! Most of the Pathfinder 2e threads here are riddled with edition warring. Some people seem incapable of not attacking either 5e or PF2E, but mainly 5e. Ah, edition wars. I remember the (not great) edition wars of AD&D2E/3.0; 3.5/4e; 4e/PF1E; 4e/5e. The (not) good 'ol days! To quote...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Books?

From the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide you missed the Undying Pact Warlock. For the sake of comprehensiveness of course!

    Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e

I think pointing out misconceived views on 5e monsters is becoming a habit of mine. If your experience of 5e monsters is they just stand and hit things then, frankly, whoever is running those monsters is doing something seriously wrong. I find it ironic that you say you don't understand why...

    Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e

It is warring when you use adversarial/inflammatory language like 'Inflict'; 'indefensibly ridiculous' and 'egrarious faults'. By using this language in the post above you have managed to contradict your opening statement within the same post. That is very... impressive? Also, you are so...

Aaand someone else who feels it's O.K. to attack 5e. Edition warring is so easy, isn't it?

Pathfinder 2 and the game Paizo should have made

Well it sounds like you are seriously biased against 5e because it doesn't work for you. This doesn't help your argument for PF2E; how does attacking 5e in your response above help in any way? A poster has stated his issues with PF2E; can they not be addressed without dragging in adversarial...

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

Your comments came across as 'Well this is better than 5e/superior to 5e'; sounding as if you're disparaging 5e. I understand this was not intentional but it sounded like an attack on 5e in tone if not intention. I actually wish good fortune on PF2E - having different options for games is good...

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

This is a personal issue I agree but I have never accepted anything as 'served on a platter.' From my very first time as a DM I have altered monsters. Doing things yourself and making stuff up was part of the ethos of early D&D, right? People expect to have everything handed to them on a plate...

Quite a few of the points you make apply to 5e. The 5e DMG has a section on how to adjust monsters by giving them different abilities - I have been doing this for the past 4 years as well as adding character class levels, adjusting damage etc. I can easily make higher level monsters very scary...

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

Don't get me wrong, I like the 5e MM monsters but the design work has clearly been improving throughout the years. I tend to customise and tinker with monsters anyway so I rarely have issues with anything.

The monsters in the 5e Monster Manual may not be exciting but monster design has continued to improve. Books like Volo's Guide, Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica all demonstrate an evolving design method. The idea that official 5e monsters are unexciting is becoming a...

If the designers meant for PF2E to be a 4 core book game then that is one pretty stupid commercial decision. I'm sure they have heard of and understand the concept of Barrier to Entry, haven't they?

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus First Impressions

Heroes of Baldur's Gate has some advice for running it in the current timeline so I'm not bothered about that. There is plenty in that book to mine for use in Descent; the maps are incredible. It's a very high quality product; the fact it's DMs Guild is actually irrelevant in this instance.

D&D 5E (2014) Sometimes Less Is More...or am I the only one who thinks so?

This game is called Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay; it's a great game but it's not high fantasy.

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus First Impressions

You have a chance of saving Elturel. The whole city is floating in mid air anchored to the ground with colossal chains. At least according to the art in the book. If that's not epic I don't know what is.

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

Quite. I will not print stuff out myself. If something is only available as PDF - assuming it's more than, say, 15 pages - I'm not interested.

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

Heh, buying and browsing RPG materials in an actual shop is becoming rare these days. For me, a POD option is the next best thing - so long as I know it exists of course.

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

Point 3 isn't relevant anymore as there aren't the number of FLGS there used to be; people buy online in the main. I buy quite a few POD classic D&D material on DMs Guild and I make a point of telling people about the Guild whenever possible. Do your bit, spread the word - in person and online.

O.K., question answered. The reason why I've never seen anyone use the SRD is because, in my neck of the woods (London, UK), Pathfinder has been wiped out of existence by 5e and every 5e player I've seen has a copy of the PHB. New players have their own copies of the PHB. Everyone wants to play...
