Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

So, there are people who use the SRD. Mind you, if everyone uses the SRD how are Paizo going to make any money from the core rulebook? That doesn't sound very intuitive to me. It might have worked for 1e but Paizo need to sell core rulebooks now.

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

Well, I used the dials provided in the 5e DMG to 'tune' my game towards the sensibilities of Ravenloft. I like my high fantasy as well. If I really want bloody and brutal I turn to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

This description here is one reason why 5e is likely to always be more popular to new players - they only need the 5e PHB and, maybe, Xanathar's Guide. If you put out a whole load of different books that are 'essential' then you've just placed a huge barrier to entry to new players. It's...

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

Well, I think all the above points are purely subjective but there's nothing wrong with that. For me, the points mentioned here are either not selling points to me; don't appeal to me; or I don't actually recognise things stated as problem issues to be such. I'm actually open to the idea of...

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus First Impressions

Actually, I agree with you there but there is just something that really tickles my fancy about these two Baldur's Gate books. Descent into Avernus is basically an epic Planescape adventure with the serial numbers filed off. I also plan to make use of the Hellbound Planescape supplement for...

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus First Impressions

I have never had a problem explaining why famous powerful NPCs don't get involved. Any of the reasons mentioned upthread plus dozens more are perfectly good. If you really have a hard time explaining to yourself why Big Shot NPCs aren't involved - try this. They went to investigate what was...

    Mad at Paizo?

Classic thread creep. You can roll with it or you can rage against the dying of the light.

Pathfinder 2E Release Day Second Edition Amazon Sales Rank

If you use the optional rules in the 5e DMG you can make D&D5e as brutal and bloody as you want. I know this for a fact as I've done exactly this for my Ravenloft campaign which is coming up to it's 2 year anniversary. Default 5e is heroic fantasy; the rules are in place to make it as gritty...

    D&D 5E (2014) Failed House Rules

Back in 3.5 my group and I collectively felt that critical hits did not do enough damage. So, with agreement from the whole group we instituted the following house rule: critical hits do X 4 damage and the damage dice 'explode'; that is if you roll the highest number on a damage die you keep...

    Mad at Paizo?

Wow, are you actually comparing football (soccer) hooligans to fans of Critical Role? Because that's just wrong. This analogy is crass and, frankly, very offensive.

D&D 5E (2014) Is 5e being too stingy on fluff?

These days, with regards to 'Fluff', I believe the intention is to A) point people to previous editions' setting material available on the DMsGuild and B) introduce setting material where it makes sense in the hardcover adventures. This does appear to be a successful approach. For my part, I've...

    Mad at Paizo?

Are you saying that you think the above description is an example of what happens in Critical Role? I watch CR and I don't believe - apart from using Dwarven Forge terrain - that this is representative of CR at all. For that matter I find the whole concept of being demotivated to play D&D...

Pathfinder 2E The Golarion Role Playing Game

WotC did some research into which of their published settings were most popular. Eberron was in the top tier in terms of popularity and, so far, is the only D&D setting getting a an old school 5E campaign setting guide. The other top tier settings were: Forgotten Realms, Planescape, Dark Sun and...

Pathfinder 2E My Biggest Concern for Pathfinder 2e

I'm glad you clarified your post. Your problems are not problems for me so these things are very subjective. Life is short so do whatever makes you happy!

    Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2E Errata

I recall the initial errata for the 5e core books to be fairly minimal and very little of it was serious changes to rules, more like typos and clarifications. WotC did pretty well. So it is possible for a large RPG publisher to ensure most errors are caught.

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

No you are not wrong. WotC have stated they want every adventure to be different from the one before. Recently we have had Jungle flavoured sandbox moving to urban intrigue with mega dungeon and now we are moving to Mad Max in Hell. Not retreads. Running 2-3 games a week will burn out anyone...

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

Quite. Other than some early sub par options such as the Beast master Ranger and Way of Elements Monk - neither of which are actually that bad - I think the design quality has been admirable and has only been improved over the years. Look at the amount of play testing that has gone into the new...

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

Well, I'm also focusing on the DM side. In my experience with late era AD&D 2e with player splat crunch; 3.0 and 3.5 I found that added player crunch feeds into the complexity of running the game. Sessions would grind along as players were constantly working out all the bonuses and permutations...

Pathfinder 2E Are you moving from 5E to PF2?

Plus, less rules bloat and more streamlined, simpler rules means it's easy to bring new players into the game. I'm experiencing this first hand DMing 5e.
