Ingram Sales Numbers of D&D 4th Edition Books

Ingram figures are notoriously inaccurate and I don't know anyone in the industry who relies on them. While I don't have access to the figures in my current position, I know in the past i;ve found Ingram's numbers to be inaccurate both in terms of what they'd bought from us (the mainstream...

Exclusive interview WotC President Greg Leeds

Because of the degree of edition wars and the ever-increasing amount of rhetorical fallacies found on Enworld I've been reading these forums less and less. This thread, and the levels of disingenous and fallacious arguments has pretty much put paid to me bothering with the site anymore. I do...

WOTC: Making a statement is not making a promise

I'm glad you brought up the computer gaming industry because in general it's a good analogy here. Your use in this post is flawed however. Wizards hasn't released anything with promised features that people have paid money for and then waited for those features to be patched in. Wizards have...

WOTC: Making a statement is not making a promise

I think you'd be hard pressed to prove anyone at WotC has lied. Not delivering on an intended product goal is not lying. Nor is believing that a product is better than some consumers find it to be. Likewise unless you can show that anyone at WotC has deliberately lied in any of their marketing...

    Dragon/Dungeon PDFs

Might be a printer driver issue or an acrobat reader issue as I didn't experience this (albeit I'm on the full version of Acrobat).

    4E is unacceptable

Firstly you have to define what 'viable' is. Pathfinder selling 5k or even 3k of every supplement, every month is very viable in the rpg industry. It might be a fraction of D&D's sales but it would still make it a very healthy company for the industry. If they should get anywhere close to 10k of...

    4E is unacceptable

Well, based on assorted posts about 4e's sales... That's meaningless without knowing how many copies they brought. They could have brought less copies in order to sell out quickly and use it for marketing hype. [Note, I don't think they did this at all, but the irony of some of the same people...

H3 Pyramid of Shadows - I Have It!

Can you say what the premise is and how it ties into the rest of the Vale? I want to weave all of the 1-10 into a tighter linked campaign than just the three separate adventures with loose links.

Siege of Bordrin's Watch - Scales of War Up

From a post on the wotc forums by one of the writers there is an outline (developer's bible) for the whole AP. As for the maps, this is my main complaint with Dungeon at the moment. I consider Dragon to be great but Dungeon really needs to have a page of maps and handouts for printing/online play.

You should check out the dundjinni forums, cartographersguild and links off of them, plenty of guides and tutorials on doing just about anything you want for fantasy mapping.

WotC to Revise D&D 4th Edition GSL and SRD

You saw that point where I said 'outside' as well, right? I mean, I know acknowledging it would also mean acknowledging your point is without support but you did see it? Hey look, that's another option that doesn't come in your statement that there are only three options. Amazon sales rank...

WotC to Revise D&D 4th Edition GSL and SRD

    A) All available evidence (from inside and outside of WotC) suggests that not only is 4e selling very well, but that month on month it's outselling 3.5, 3e and 2e. B) For it to be a PR blunder is an entirely subjective opinion and would also require vast numbers of people to say that they're...

WotC to Revise D&D 4th Edition GSL and SRD

Or maybe, E) Individuals at WotC always wanted different aspects to the license but for whatever reason that didn't happen, those individuals have now convinced other individuals round to their way of thinking. I get that you like to criticise WotC but given you have no idea, making statements...

    3rd printing of core books?

If it doesn't interest you at all then why suggest that employees at WotC are lying?

    D&D 3.x 4E reminded me how much I like 3E

I know I said that you were, so I apologise and must have confused the two in my head at the time of posting. I can well understand a dislike for the GSL, even though I really like 4e the GSL is not what I wanted to see (it might be doing exactly what it's meant to, I'd just like to see...

    3rd printing of core books?

WotC is owned by Hasbro, which is a publicly traded company. Lying about sales performance leads to bad things(tm). Do you have any evidence to substantiate your supposition, or are you just saying it for the sake of a cheap shot? Are you going to go on to claim that both Amazon and the New...

    3rd printing of core books?

No, no it's not. Do some research and you'll see how utterly ridiculous that statement is. 4e had a 50% bigger print run than 3.5, which had a bigger print run than 3.0. And it's already outsold both of them (neither had reprinted by this point) and outsold the first year of 2e. On top of...
