    D&D 5E (2024) 5e spell saves versus 4e spell attacks

I think spell attack makes no sense for some spells. Fireball, for example, you cast and you point your finger to the origin of the explosion. Once you do it, the explosion takes place and the explosion is what is "attacking" the ones in the area. Maybe you could roll for attack to check if you...

    D&D 5E (2024) 5.5 Darkvision and the Unseen

Judging by the number of races with darkvision, I would change darkvision as an ability or characteristic and start to name regular vision as a disability, just like barbarians illiteracy in previous editions.

D&D 5E (2014) Are Wizards really all that?

Not quoting because it was said by some.Your answer, differently, shows your opinion regarding the concept of better, which implies a discussion of power, which in turn is related to the OP. But I'll disagree, my concept of better in this context is different. My concept is that if class A is...

D&D 5E (2014) Are Wizards really all that?

OP is fully related to class power. Some are just answering NO justifying that not everyone bases the character they want to play upon the power of the class. Can't understand how it contributes to the discussion.

D&D 5E (2014) Are Wizards really all that?

High level campaigns I play rarely deal with monsters, it's more like urban campaigns. For this type of campaign monster analysis is void. Besides this, if you wanna face a martial, just boost AC, but if you wanna face a wizard, you have to boost 6 saves, because wizards have options. Options...

Level Up (A5E) About the strength ability

Good point to address. I house-ruled weapon/unarmed damage bonus is always from Str modifier and I also added Str requirement to use armor without being slow. I would like to see something like that in LU.

Blog (A5E) Level Up: Exploration Challenges, Boons, & Monster Signs

Depends on the kind of game you play. I'm running a tier 4 urban campaign with few encounters per day and it's working fine. I'll keep using it because I don't want to use 6-8 exploration challenges a day.

Or you could use the optional DMG rule that changes the short rest to one day and long rest to one week.

Some stuff about units of measurement and spelling

I think it is easier to adapt from metric/imperial distances to abstract distances than the opposite, so IMO a5e should keep the detailed option. Regarding metric vs. imperial, I've been calculating for so long that it makes no difference at all, not anymore.

Level Up (A5E) Want a warlord tomorrow?

I answered NO because I wanted the warlord in that same day.

Level Up (A5E) My concern about the fighter.

These is the kind of solution I like, but I think these boons should be available only to fighters because everyone can use weapons and armors, at some cost.

Level Up (A5E) My concern about the fighter.

Fighter needs a big boost. Hit dice is not the proper fix, a change from d10 to d12 is a +1hp/lvl, it's gone in the first enemy hit! Fighters should be by far the best in fighting. My homemade fighter have damage reduction from Con mod, add half prof. bonus in attack and damage with weapons he...

Blog (A5E) A Quick Look At Skills

I think this is the question that should not be taken in consideration when designing an advanced version of a simple and noob-driven D&D edition. New players should play 5e, not Advanced 5e.

Blog (A5E) Let’s Look At Exploration in Level Up

Nice to see exploration having so much attention. How are you planning to keep this part of the game relevant and fun in high levels with magic easily avoiding travels and lack of supplies? Are there other aspects not yet presented?

Blog (A5E) Let’s Look At Exploration in Level Up

PF2 seems more like an evolution of D&D 4, without the great mistakes of 4e, keeping the sacred cows of D&D. Basically it is what I would've liked to see in 5e.
