Pathfinder 1E Help me Playtest my Pathfinder CharGen

I contacted the administrator. There may have been some overly-aggressive blocking, but it should be better now.

Pathfinder 1E Help me Playtest my Pathfinder CharGen

I don't know what the issue is, but I do show a number of successful downloads. So, try again later I guess?

Pathfinder 1E Help me Playtest my Pathfinder CharGen

I've been working on a new d20 chargen, and using Pathfinder Alpha as my first specific ruleset. Note that this spreadsheet does not include a spell list manager or an animal companion assistant. Those I feel are better handled as separate sheets, and they are projects that I'm interested in...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder: Encounter Design Simplified

I have myself recently been thinking that we need an alternative to the wealth-by-level system. At the time I thought it represented advanced thinking in the game, since the GM now had guidelines for how much magic the party had, but in practice it has quickly turned into a major constraint...

The Mathematical Model of the d20 System

Right, there's no need to get any dander up. But of course you're thinking, "But wait, I have the following reasons to pursue this grudge, including, but not limited to, a clear case to be made about who is to blame..." ect. Forget about it. And I'm addressing here whoever is thinking about...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder RPG: Hints of Bards to Come

You're selling me on it here. It wouldn't be an useless level of knowledge, but it would be less vague about what a bard could know, and it would have roleplaying advantages in that the bard could nuance his particular specialties. Of course, when you really need to know what blows through an...

The Mathematical Model of the d20 System

All this does have consequences for 4e, though it's getting to where I feel I'm only beginning to understand 3.x. Now all of the sudden there's a new thing to learn. But in reference to the system discussed in which you can think of the power of a monster as the square of its CR, I wonder if...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder RPG: Hints of Bards to Come

I'm sure I'll have occasion to pick through it later for useful bits, but I clearly need to look elsewhere for my 3.75 solution, especially since part of the reason I'm not too sanguine about plunking down cash for 4e is that they cut bards and gnomes out of the Player's Handbook, and there are...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder RPG: Hints of Bards to Come

Right, well of course we don't need any crazy game mechanics to tell us the bard is supreme. But some of the other players in the party may not get it, so it's important to have something to point to. But replacing the Knowledge check with bonuses to a bunch of skills that points would have to...

The Mathematical Model of the d20 System

Sorry. I specifically mean WotC, which has touted their more guesswork-oriented approach to magic item creation as a feature rather than a flaw.

The Mathematical Model of the d20 System

Do you suppose this is why they've more-or-less eliminated the magic item creation rules, replacing them with something much more vague? I thought it odd that they discussed the loss of specific mechanics for determining the value of magic items as though this was a feature. So, the system is...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder RPG: Hints of Bards to Come

I must say that I'm pleased that they intend to support the Bard. I wouldn't have paid for a copy of the Book of Experimental Might if I had known they would be writing the bard off. However, the rule that a bard gets +3 to knowledge skills instead of a lore check means that players will have...

The Mathematical Model of the d20 System

Either, really, since I'm assuming that you (Bad Axe) are making explicit what WotC is making obscure. The model seems roughly likely just on the basis of some trials I've run in Excel generating values for each level's actual Defense and Offense values between 0.5 and 1.5 (just as a rough idea...

The Mathematical Model of the d20 System

I just picked up the Grim Tales Game Mastering .pdf, which details a method for judging encounter difficulty that appears to reverse-engineer the EL system. The idea is that the power of a creature is not its CR, but actually the square of that. Then the EL of an encounter is one plus twice...

    Pathfinder 1E pathfinder skill system

Skill system reform has been my own particular beef with d20. Mostly my concern was that skills needed to be grouped, but in the particular case of d20 Future, Computer Use needed to be broken up so that it wasn't the absolutely indespensible skill that did everything. The problem was that...

    Pathfinder 1E HeroForge for Pathfinder?

I've just tried it recently on a Windows platform. It's incredibly slow, and Hero Forge is non-functional in it. A web search indicates that Open Office is notorious for being a bloated resource hog. I suspect it would be supremely frustrating to work with it for a large project like this.

    Pathfinder 1E HeroForge for Pathfinder?

If exporting Hero Forge to Open Office and running it on the Mac works, I'd be interested to know, because I'm contemplating whether Open Office is the route to take.

    Pathfinder 1E HeroForge for Pathfinder?

Over on the Yahoo Hero Forge board they seem to be at a wait-and-see stage, since the final rules are currently nebulous. But I think a chargen spreadsheet would be useful to facilitate the playtesting. I'm looking into converting my Star*Forge sheet for this purpose after this semester is...

    My First Savage Worlds Game

Most of the time you can pretty much handle it on the fly. But where it gets complicated tends to be precisely where you need to know exactly what the rules specify because it's life-or-death for your character. Under those conditions the game will grind to a halt if you have to start parsing...

    My First Savage Worlds Game

In my group, we find the game "Fast, Furious and Fun" as promised except that there are a lot of conditionals that make Damage and Healing a headache. If you ever get confused, you can consult this flow chart to see if you're applied all the conditional rules correctly...
