    "24" on Mar 4, 2003

'24' is the only 'must see' show on my schedule these days, but I have to go out on a limb and express some disappointment in last night's episode. I'm perfectly willing to chalk it up to my personal frame of mind at the time, but Kim and her ongoing odyssey were just driving me bonkers, which...

[PR] Red Spire Press announces Dark Legacies

And I thought the boys at Privateer Press were a tease... This I'm looking forward to. And I'll be expecting regular updates...;)

    I do / don't like George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice & Fire series

A re-read is in order I've been avoiding rereading this series for fear that it wouldn't hold the same magic as the first time through, but this list has inspired me to dive back into it. For one, I take comfort in reading that others have said the second time through was as good or better...

Who played the better Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Ah, a kindred spirit. I could've hardly summed it better myself. I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing the disenchantment. I so loved the first two seasons. But to answer the question, I enjoyed SMG in the role better. Whether that's due to all of the other differences...

    Last Moment Reminder: 24

SPOILERS (minor) When Kim first showed up in this episode, tramping around, lost in the woods, I turned to my wife and said, "With any luck, she'll get eaten by a mountain lion and we'll have done with this silly subplot." I said that knowing that it would have been the most RIDICULOUS...

    Favorite Buffy Season

My recollection is getting hazy, but I know my Buffy watching tapered off considerably after the second season. When did Ms. Calendar make her exit? Perhaps it's all tied to that. I confess to having had a bit of a crush.

    I do / don't like George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice & Fire series

One thing that really stands out to me about Martin (I'm a huge fan) is that the better part of his story is told from the perspective of kids (teens or pre-teens). Speaking as someone who typically despises the use of children in narrative, who are more often than not merely cutesy...

    Buffy Season 3

Agreed. And the "magic addiction/drug addiction" metaphor was more than a little strained. Although as far as Xander's comic foil, I'd have to point to Anya, whom I've enjoyed quite a bit.

    Buffy Season 3

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and admit publicly that I really haven't enjoyed Buffy (with a few definite exceptions, such as evil Willow and 'Hush') since Season 2. The show just seemed to lose some of its freshness and sparkle, and, from my perspective, developed a tendency to focus on the...

Scarred Lands: None Dare Call Them Heroes (updated 12/07/03)

And that's what makes it such a refreshing read. So much gaming fiction succumbs to the "...and then they walked into a 20' x 20' room and were attacked by zombies..." syndrome. These stories grab you by the nape and drag you along for the ride. Hellish good fun. Looking forward to perusing...

Scarred Lands: None Dare Call Them Heroes (updated 12/07/03)

Now that is visual imagery. How I do enjoy jonrog1's story hours. A question: do you make use of the Rogues Gallery to post the characters for your stories, or do you prefer that the characters' race, class, etc. be imparted gradually through the tale? Either way, great fun.

Scarred Lands: None Dare Call Them Heroes (updated 12/07/03)

Giddy with Story Hour glee, I am. The Scarred Lands are quickly becoming one of my favorite settings and now jonrog has set one of his wondrous tales there. And what a fancy-tickling setup! This I can't wait to read.

    Scarred Lands races question

Ah, that is good news. Just to clarify, though... that'll be stats only for all the races, or stats only just for the Termana races? The reviews I've read of the DM's screen indicate that the artwork that came with the article was really well done and illustrative, so, being inherently greedy...

    Scarred Lands races question

For those that might know... will the race information originally published with the Scarred Lands DM Screen be reprinted anywhere else? It seems like vital information for character creation that was oddly placed in a DM's aid (personal opinion, of course). I kind of expected to see it in the...

DarkMatter D20: Drunk Southern Girls with Guns ... UPDATED - 8/18/05!

I enjoy reading a good many of the Story Hours on this list, but none have had me on the edge of my seat like "Drunk Southern Girls...", a fact made all the more impressive given the lag between updates. Well done, indeed.

Sniktch's Story Hour Prelude - From the Beginning (UPDATED 04/22)

Sniktch's Story Hour - City of the Spider Queen (Updated 04/25)

Kenzer Arms & Equipment Guide Question

Re: An answer Would it be possible to get some more information about what's planned for this book? The original AD&D Arms & Equipment Guide was easily one of my most worthwhile purchases, and a 3e update, or better, is much anticipated.

    The Heretic of Wyre

Dang, and I'd just wrapped my mind around the shift to The Bitter Edge. Eh, I'm sure I'll readjust just fine. ;) One thing about the Wyre campaign... it's definitely opened my eyes to the beauty of celestial and infernal elements in the game. That Feezuu's a treat.
