More Classes Essentialized or more support for current classes?

I see no reason why they could not continue to support both styles. Personally, I've yet to see anything in essentials worth purchasing...and so I eagerly look forward to Arcane/Primal/Divine/Psionic power 2 books. That being said, I'd want to see more support for current classes....get them...

Is it possible to houserule feats in new CB?

This makes a lot of sense actually..but being able to houserule on the character sheet to me is effectively just as good an option in my opinion. In the meantime I guess it'll be a matter or using a work around. I'm fine with using the offline CB, but it will only be a viable option for so...

Is it possible to houserule feats in new CB?

lol, that is a great work around. Just retrain a feat that is based on circumstance or wont have a big impact on the character sheet. Thanks for the tip, hopefully they'll get around to adding at least limited houserule options in the coming months.

Is it possible to houserule feats in new CB?

Our group likes to provide the Expertise feats for free in all our campaign games. On occasion, other feats are potentially allowed for free as part of Quest Rewards as well (toughness for example). I've not seen how this can be done in the new online character builder. Am I missing this...

    Online CB yea or nay?

Yea I've built two characters with the new CB and so far I like it above the prior version. More user friendly and visually appealing. In my limited use I've not yet experienced a crash either.

So, how many are avoiding Essentials?

I'm interested in the Heroes books for further options on classes. However, I'm not set on a purchase yet. It feels incomplete in terms of options. It is quite possible that I'll be done with purchasing 4e books going forward. However, the material released prior to Essentials should give...

RITUALS will be officially modified :)

I've always looked at rituals as a Qwest Reward bonus or treasure parcel option. As such, I've personally treated it separately from the money and magical item expectations of the game. They are instead their own subset of mechanics that should not interfere with what the game expects UNLESS a...

RITUALS will be officially modified :)

Out of curiosity, what exactly is the problem with Rituals as they are now for typical players? I have no objection to them at all as they are great for the roleplaying aspects of 4e. Is it the idea that they are not combat oriented or slow that turns people off? Because that is very easily...

    Hasbro makes money, everyone wins

I like the options this provides to players...but I'm sure like nearly all micro-transactions the prices will be absurd. What is a fair price for one monster stat block? $1.00 plus taxes would be my guess. $10.00 for a full class maybe... I'll likely continue to purchase full books, but...

Return to PHB: Best Generic Feats?

Toughness wins in my book. Every character I've seen in person played up to epic has had the feat...often either gaining it in late heroic or late paragon. I'd almost argue that it falls under the feat tax category...except characters can run just fine without it. I've seen several instances...

Do essentials books provide complete builds?

Thanks for the response...sounds like each new option is pretty much giving the player one solid build choice with very few places to make decisions compared to the typical books. So for someone who was wanting to purchase the books with the most class details...I assume I'd best to only get...

Do essentials books provide complete builds?

As someone who has collected 4E books up to the point where essentials was released...i have a few questions that will help determine if I should buy into these books or simply wait for xxxx Power2 books to continue rolling out. 1) Are the builds provided in the essentials books complete...

Finger Cut Off - How to get back ?

This is entirely up to DM's discretion. The answer could be as simple as saying you're fully healed after a short/extended rest (not my recommended way to deal with it). As a DM, I would likely provide some sort of detriment to the player until which time a side quest is completed to find...

D&D 4E 4E DMs: What setting are you currently using?

I've never experienced a non-homebrew game. Typically everything is done from the ground up except for gods which are recycled from pretty much all sources in order to remain familiar to players. I look forward to next year when our current game ends as one of our players will try a pure Dark...

    Tougher minions

My group has houseruled the concept of elite minions, which are of course the common multi-hit idea. The first hit bloodies the minion, the second one kills it. To compensate for strikers though, if they apply their extra damage to the minion, then it is killed on one strike to reflect the...

    So we battled Orcus....

You guys certainly got lucky in this fight. I read more critical hits in this one fight than we tend to see in any given 6 hour session. In my one experience as DM using Orcus, I kept recharging his touch of death and hit the party with it 3 times. This made for a rather difficult fight as...

    Shaman: Spirit Companion Bonus

I'm with Dracosuave on this one. Our group has always looked at this in a way that so long as you meet the requirements of the power 'adjacent to your spirit companion', the benefits will take effect. There are no direct rulings to imply that benefits are tied solely to the summoned creature...

    Natural 20's & 1's?

We play natural 20's as written in combat given the critical hit rules. On a skill check there are often added benefits provided...IE) a natural 20 on a climb check allows you to climb your speed rather than half your speed for the turn. I don't personally like this houserule, however, my...

And if racial bonuses didn't matter?

The problem with allowing racial bonuses anywhere is that many optimization players (myself included)...would likely focus far too much on one race. In 4e, I consider Dwarves to be the best all around race since day one with Dragonborn being the most fun race given the insanely good feat...

    Race First!

I'm probably of the minority to build around Paragon Path first. After finding one that suits me it helps determine class and race to make the most out of the concept. For this reason, I consider the racial paragon paths to be the most fun since they don't force a class on you. Too bad there...
