ZEITGEIST Of iron, wood and flesh - a 4E ZEITGEIST chronicle

Hello! Inspired by gideonpepys' most excellent thread, I've decided to use the boards to hold a chronicle of our recently started Zeitgeist game. I'm running the game for 4 players, and we're using the 4E ruleset. We roll for attributes. I've made some modifications to the setting and story to...

D&D 4E Does anyone have a solution to make the 4E Character Builder work on Mac?

Thanks, I had already solved the issue when I read this, but it is indeed the correct procedure.

Pathfinder 2E Exploration, Encounter, Downtime modes

Darkest Dungeons has what fundamentally amounts to a "downtime phase". Every now and then your group has to camp, and during camp you can spend your "respite" (basically 12 points symbolizing time) on different class abilities. People bandage each other, the jester sings and boosts morale, the...

Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour: The Warlord

I think an important thing that is getting overlooked is the fact that the ability of the Warlord to grant Basic Attacks had a certain weight in 4E because 4E was a game where "basic attacks" kind of sucked. You could build synergies and builds (expecially after Essential Classes were released)...

D&D 4E Does anyone have a solution to make the 4E Character Builder work on Mac?

I'm in need of using the CB with a portable computer during our games and... it's a Mac. Now, I can't seem to find a way to make Silverlight work on anything that isn't Internet Explorer. Does any Mac user have some wisdom to share? Free xp for all :P .

Pathfinder 2E Exploration, Encounter, Downtime modes

I pretty much agree with all of this. I don't want to reiterate too much on the topic (we're discussing it on 3 different threads now) but I think 5E's decision to focus on trimming the fat and focusing on nostalgia/capturing a certain oldschool feel has been wise. 5E didn't necessarily have to...

    AD&D 2E What PF2E means for D&D5E

I have to agree with this. 5E has managed to build its success on the principle of creating a version of D&D that was familiar enough to appeal to traditional fans but also simple, modern and straightforward enough to attract a new generation of gamers. This means its fanbase is made of 2 kind...

Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour: The Warlord

I'm not suggesting it's "gimped". I understand that hearing "the system you like is simplier and less "powerful" than the others" can trigger that kind of reaction, but I think it's simply a matter of knowing what you want and what you can do. You can't have a system with the level of internal...

Mike Mearls Happy Fun Hour: The Warlord

I love the smell of edition warring in the morning. However, I fundamentally agree with the point made: the core problem with recreating the Warlord in 5E is... 5E. 5E is a very, very, very, very simple game. The core game's engine doesn't have the bandwidth to handle a class like the 4E...

Pathfinder 2E Exploration, Encounter, Downtime modes

I like 5E well enough, but I'd be honestly hard pressed to claim it invented anything.

Pathfinder 2E Will Pathfinder 2nd Edition Be Based on D&D 5E?

Monster design is also one of 5E's weaknesses, so them not pursuing that model may be proof that they're trying to imitate what D&D editions do best. If I were to try and copy 5E to steal some of its thunder I still wouldn't imitate the monster design ethos. It's kind of a mess.

Pathfinder 2E Will Pathfinder 2nd Edition Be Based on D&D 5E?

I don't think there's been an egregious flow of players migrating from 5E to Pathfinder, in fact the opposite is probably true. People who saw reasons to play Pathfinder over 4E may have decided to give a shot at 5E; people who played Pathfinder and were disappointed by 5E aren't exactly "new...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

We have plenty of examples of systems who work that way. The Divinity series (the last 2 iterations) pretty much function the same way (you have action points but the end results are the same). I don't think it will make for a fast system, however. Deciding if you should move or not will not be...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

Anyways, good luck to Paizo with this. I'm a fan of their APs more than their system, but the idea of selling a new version of a game whose core justification for existing is intercepting the mass of conservative players who didn't want change to begin is already brave, doing so when a perhaps...

Pathfinder 2E Paizo Announces Pathfinder 2nd Edition!

How does that reconcile with "You're experienced enough and now you can be hit, definitely hit and suffer from injury 12 times as much as you did a year ago"? Because the biggest problem of hit points as meat point is exactly that they don't make any sense.

13th Age [5E, 4E] Looking for a 5E/PF/13th Age adventure path to convert to 4E

Thanks for the suggestions! Since we're on EnWorld, how about Zeitgeist? I have the first 4 modules since I was subscribed last year. Is it any good? Does subscribing to EnWorld give you all the remaining modules still?

13th Age [5E, 4E] Looking for a 5E/PF/13th Age adventure path to convert to 4E

Hello! My current Warhammer game is ending soon and my players expressed the wish to go back to 4E for our next game. I don't have enough free time to go full homebrew, so I'm thinking of picking up a 5E/13th Age/Pathfinder adventure path and adapting it (my players are fundamentally familiar...
