Actual interest in conversion of old adventures

one of my players took the time and did the tome of magic in 3.0. I look at it once in awhile when i have the chance. Most things look just as balanced as they were in 2e.

Failed Swim, How fast do you sink?

OK Swim skill states that if you make the swim check you can swim up to half movement in a full round, or quarter movement in a move equivalent. Since you aren't swimming but sinking, then I'd guess that a person sinks half their movement rate / round. Humans sink at 15 feet / round. halflings...

Failed Swim, How fast do you sink?

It's jsut a rule i use in my game. keeps things simple. Obviously if i really look into the mechanics, the answer would be different.grrrr you are making me look aren't you???? fess up you are you are!!! grrrrrr -flips through the books-

    Enervation and criticals?

Hypersmurf, I concede the point to you on temporary ability score drain. But I still feel that a confirmed critical on poison should still do 2d10 instead of 1d10. It's hard enough to get a nat 20 and then confirm it. Also I've seen people saying that games are not deadly enough. This just...

    Enervation and criticals?

If it were permanent con damage, I would say yes, but Poison does temporary ability damage. So far temporary damage doesn't kill you if you go to 0, you fall unconscious. I was just looking to see if there was anything that would support my arguement, the only one i see is under the...

Failed Swim, How fast do you sink?

i run with this rule. light load, sink by speed. a normal human is 30 feet. medium load, sink by x2 speed. heavy load, sink by x3 speed. This is by round. So a light load human sinking for 3 rounds would be 90 feet assuming he fails all swim checks. A heavy loaded human sinks for 1 round and...

    Swarm vs Web??

from 3.5 players hand book on WEB: Web creates a many-layered mass of strong, sticky strands. These strands trap those caught in them. The strands are similar to spider webs but far larger and tougher. These masses must be anchored to two or more solid and diametrically opposed points or else...

Arcane healing spell (bear with me, would like suggestions)

I'd suggest leaving healing in the domain of the clerics. But if you trully want to make an arcane spell for this, I would suggest trying out a level 3 spell that allows you to connect your unused spell slots to fuel the spell and heal someone at the rate of 1d6/spell level max 10d6. Doing...

    Enervation and criticals?

Per 3.5 PHB page 140, under critical hits Spells and Critical Hits: A spell that requires an attack roll, such as shocking grasp, or melf's acid arrow, can score a critical hit. A spell cattack that requires no attack roll, such as lightning bolt, cannot score a critical hit. So any spell with...

    Suspension of disbelief and gamers

Personally, I don't think it is about gamers having poor imaginations. It's the fact that with all the technology, special effects and such out there. It's hard to sometimes picture what you want to perceive in the dnd game without saying "Hey you got that from (insert movie here)" comments...

Rat-bastardly... or just plain horrible? (DTW Gameday people stay out!)

Just a thought, but I was under the impression that sneak attack was only for weapon attacks. Can you tell me if sneak attack does qualify for ray attacks? This is something new to me and surprising to me. If there is any examples, i'd like to see it. Thanks.

    Protection from Evil curiosity

From the SRD3.5: This spell wards a creature from attacks by evil creatures, from mental control, and from summoned creatures. It creates a magical barrier around the subject at a distance of 1 foot. The barrier moves with the subject and has three major effects. First, the subject gains a +2...

Tell me if you think this class is balanced.

Swashbuckling.... -thinks- Somehow it seems just a tad bland to be ala musketeer feel. suggestions: prereq: skill focus (tumble) Abilities... here's where we see that they are fighter like with feat like abilities. But since you wanted any class to be able to take this how about.... Other...
