    Much better. ;)

Return of Creature by Poll - Poll #23 (name of individual)

Hang on. Do you mean that both Inevitables and this new creature would be part of a larger class of creatures - called whatever we come up with in poll #22? Because that was *definitely* not how I understood it. Maybe we need to restart these polls and clarify the issue. (May as well hold a...

Using Detect Evil AKA Another Paladin Thread!

Are you sure of that? The "Aura Power" table clearly lists "Cleric of an evil deity", without any qualifier regarding to the alignment of the cleric himself. So you claim Detect Evil can distinguish between a creature and a spell cast on a creature? Detect Evil only tells you the number, power...

Return of Creature by Poll - Poll #24 (ability scores)

Dex, Str, Cha, Wis, and an Int of 2-4 at most.

Return of Creature by Poll - Poll #23 (name of individual)

I prefer not to have a different name for the species and individual. Just don't see the point.

Return of Creature by Poll - Poll #22 (name of species)

Speaking of joke names, I'm horribly offended you left out my own proposal of "Evitable". Well.. not really. ;) [Edit: Hm... none of those names really strike me though... Gonna have to vote an unspecified "Other" on this...]

Return of Creature by Poll - Poll #25 (fly manueverability)

Isn't Fly maneuverability for a Swarm rather... well, weird, since the swarm is shapeable anyway? I'm voting for Perfect, just to avoid all the headaches... (Besides, it seems like most diminutive flying critters have Perfect maneuverability anyways...)

Character Creation Stat Draft (Trial Draft Complete!!)

So back to my original suggestion to use 3d6 for the Wild scores... Let's say we had done a draft with the same scores as in this thread, but Wild scores of 14, 12, 10, 8, 8, 6 (i.e. 2 lower than what you guys were using). Would that be acceptable? If all the Wild scores went to Con, the top 6...

    In-Character versus Out-Of-Character

Interesting distribution... :D Can't remember any other polls where people were so spread out all across the board as this one!

Using Detect Evil AKA Another Paladin Thread!

Heh - I remember Hypersmurf reciting a long litany of ways someone could show up under Detect Evil without actually *being* evil. Detect Evil detects evil *auras*, not actually the alignment of the creature. For example, a Godo aligned ghost might still have an evil aura, simply because it's...

Return of Creature by Poll - The Creature thus Far

Hmm... isn't there already a playable construct creature that is dual-wielding two rapiers? I'd prefer to stay away from that stereotype, if possible.

    New Poser Art: The Harpy...Demonette

No, not really. ;) Ok, I'll admit I *have* seen more ridiculous representations of women in cartoons, fetish art, etc. But if you're trying to go for photorealistic renderings, cartoon conventions really have little relevance. If you had Poser models of "women" with hair consisting of solid...

    OGC Wiki?

Perhaps more importantly: several publishers have clearly stated that they feel this sort of use of OGC would hurt their bottom line, and that they would probably have to stop publishing OGC - or stop publishing altogether. Much as I would love to have a free source of OGL material, I don't...

Games you were turned off of and why

Uhm... so which part of this put you off of GURPS? For the record, I think your GM was probably correct that "squirrels are servants of the devil and have to be killed on sight" would qualify as a delusion. Isn't there an example delusion in the book along those lines? 15 points does sound a...

    New Poser Art: The Harpy...Demonette

Ah, that explains why they can fly: helium balloons! :D Dude, that's about the most ridiculous looking representation of a female *anything* I've ever seen. Not so much fear inducing, but rather laughter inducing... probably not the effect you were looking for.

Character Creation Stat Draft (Trial Draft Complete!!)

If I remember the polls on this topic correctly, I believe 28-30 points was the most common for pointbuy, and 4d6-drop-1 for rolled stats. Too lazy to go dig for the relevant polls though. ;) I do agree that a 35 average point value for rolled stats is probably close in power to a 32 poinbuy...

Character Creation Stat Draft (Trial Draft Complete!!)

Not even close to what you would get with an actual 25 point pointbuy, you mean? Well, can't argue with that! :D Fact is, these stats are a good deal higher than what you would get using standard 4d6-drop-1, and far higher than the default 25 point pointbuy. Now, I acknowledge that a lot of...

What have we learned from TV?

In one of the most memorable Feng Shui sessions I had the privilege to attend - run by our esteemed PirateCat - the game *started* with a shot of the PC's in freefall without parachutes. No actual roleplaying, just a bit of background narration while "the opening credits rolled". Then we cut to...

Character Creation Stat Draft (Trial Draft Complete!!)

I agree. In fact, given the constrainst due to character concepts and previously chosen stats, people don't really tend to go for the highest remaining stat in each round anyway. You could probably simplify it down to a fixed order like ABC CBA CBA etc. and still wind up with equally satisfying...

    Publishers that don't add indexes--RANT

Pretty much anything above 20 pages or so should have an index, even if only a single page or column (or bookmarks, for any pdf > 10 pages). A table of content is *not* an alternative. And yes, the absence of an index has persuaded me *not* to buy books in the past...
