    Maedar

Well... one could argue that if it used Animate Object on itself, the glyptar would also acquire the properties of a Tiny Animated Object, i.e. a Slam attack (poison coated glyptar, anyone?), Construct traits (incl. immunity to all mind-affecting effects), etc. That starts to get pretty messy...

    Quickling

I would actually argue that they should *not* be completely invisible. The original MM2 entry says "When motionless in natural cover they are totally invisible." It also clarifies that "They are 90% likely to be visible when moving, due to their speed." To me that says that their size and skill...

    Vampire Moss

Doh! Yes, of course that's the right way to do it. What sort of CR are we aiming at for this anyway?

What language is the Common of our world?

Exactly. English may be used as a trade language, or even a pidjin in some places. But there are billions of humans on earth who can't hold a conversation in English. That's far from being a "Common" in the original D&D sense.

    Vampire Moss

Why not just have the victim make a Fort save to avoid falling unconscious after the feeding link has been established for X rounds? Where we pick "X" to be about 1/2 the total hp for the average adventurer appropriate for the CR of the moss... Seems a lot easier to manage. Magical healing...

    Bicycles in YOUR campaign setting!

I would vote for something in between "No way!" and "weird and exotic". I.e. I could easily conceive of a tinker gnome inventing a bicycle in a D&D setting, but I don't think there would ever be more than one or two bicycles in the entire world.

    Vampire Moss

And what if the victim was already wounded beforehand? Can one hitpoint drained by a vampire moss send him unconscious? And if we base it on total hp drained by vampire moss (not just "reduced to 1/2 max HP"), do we need to keep an accounting of how many hp each PC has been drained by the...

What language is the Common of our world?

Considering there's more than twice as many Mandarin chinese speakers than english speakers, I find it a bit hard to vote for English as the "Common of our world". Within the typical D&D setting, consisting of a central well-explored and settled region surrounded by wilderlands and "lands...

    Help me staff a Keep

Part of it would depend on how spartan you want this place to be. For an army base, you wouldn't really need any "chambermaids", and only one cook. The soldiers would be expected to clean up after themselves and spend some time on kitchen duty anyway. A temple with lots of clerics will need...

    Collaborative Cave!

Sorry for the absence... The idea was that the party of gobolds/koblins in #12 had been stuck there for several weeks - long enough for the top dogs in the party to start using the other party members as rations, untill only one "underdog" remained (the one who may want to help out the PC's...

Mirror of Scrying should look like....?

A living, silver-skinned creature from some nightmare dimension, stretched out and clamped into a heavy, circular, wrought-iron frame.

Albany Gameday VI - Sept. 9th - Thanks for coming

You don't mean Albany, CA, just north of Berkeley, do you? Aw man... you had gotten me all excited... :( ;)

    Help me staff a Keep

We don't have much info to go by, regarding Muzic's character. But form what little we do know, I would suggest a Bard who can sing the praises of the party's exploits (always pictured with Muzic as its head, naturally). He can also serve to gather useful gossip from the surrounding...

    Vampire Moss

We have to make it 100% clear whether or not this thing will actually physically attach itself to its victim. Especially the first version is somewhat ambiguous on the topic: "magically attach itself", "latched on", "releases its victim"... The extra verbage in the MCA1 version makes it...

    Help me staff a Keep

Heh - the lord who thinks only his fighters need to be loyal and reliable will soon find himself poisoned by the cook, have his saddlebelt slit by the stableboy, or his secrets sold to rival lords by his chambermaid. ;) If you're not worried about assasination, espionage or sabotage, by all...

    Help me staff a Keep

Actually, the word you seem to be looking for is "castellan", i.e. the keeper or governor of a castle. In this case, since this person will be at best the #3 in the castle, I think "seneschal" would fit the position better: "an official in a medieval noble household in charge of domestic...

    Help me staff a Keep

I totally agree. In fact, I'd say that either the 11th level cohort, or the 3rd level follower would have to be a Cleric, with the other one probably being someone with military expertise. Out of the three 2nd level followers, one will need to be the steward/senechal who knows how to keep the...

    So, you roll 6 18's.

Let's see... if we believe Paize that there's 4 million D&D players, and let's arbitrarily say that the average D&D player has played for about 10 years. If each of those players rolled more than three characters a day, every single day for ten years, then yes, that 1-in-55-billion chance does...

    So, you roll 6 18's.

About one in 55 billion, in fact. I'm not sure how Halivar came up with 7.15 in one million, but that one was way off. If this were ever to happen to me, I would apologize to the DM for using a set of dice which were obviously biased, discard them, and roll again with a different set of dice.
