D&D 5E (2014) Can you hear the audible version of the Alarm spell if you are more than 60 feet away?

I agree this is the best argument for the interpretation of "you can hear it within 60 feet and not outside that radius".

D&D 5E (2014) Can you hear the audible version of the Alarm spell if you are more than 60 feet away?

I can't speak for the 2024 version, but the 2014 version does not say that. It simply says: "An audible alarm produces the sound of a hand bell for 10 seconds within 60 feet" It makes no claim about what can and cannot hear that sound, only that sound is created.....just like the daylight spell...

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Certain death....isn't so certain at the levels you are going to face this dragon. Death Ward, Barbarian deathless ability, contingency, clone, wish, cleric divine intervention (raise dead), immunity to damage, wish immunity to shut off the banish effect, divine intervention (hallow) to shut...

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

because its a legendary action, this is not true. I will give you an example. Imagine we have Player A and Dragon D. A goes after D. Some action is taken before D goes, and D banishes A as a legendary action. It is now D's turn....because it is now the start of D's turn....A returns from...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you hear the audible version of the Alarm spell if you are more than 60 feet away?

nor does alarm state that the sound is only audible within the radius. It simply says that the radius is filled with the sound...the same way daylight's area is filled with the light. If a person can still perceive the light that is within the daylight spell outside the radius....it reasons the...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you hear the audible version of the Alarm spell if you are more than 60 feet away?

Just confirming: Daylight A 60-foot-radius sphere of light spreads out from a point you choose within range. The sphere is bright light and sheds dim light for an additional 60 feet. Do you rule that a sphere of daylight can only be seen by people within 120 feet? Its fine either way, I...

    D&D 5E (2014) What high-level spells could warp society?

I think the problem is, dnd often tells you that everyone should be a low level npc, heck should likely have NPC levels and not even true class levels....but then the second you get some official adventurers everyone has levels and classes and spells, etc. Can't have it both ways

D&D 5E (2024) How Important Is The Lore

I think one of the major failures of 4e was that to many it did not "feel" like dnd. I can argue many of its mechanical improvements and benefits (and make no mistake, there were many) but I think a shift away from lore and presentation into the more clinical version we got is one of the reasons...

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

no one is talking about 20th level. Pick lvl 15 (in which a CR24 should be a legit true encounter)... same idea.

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Sure...and your at the levels where a DC 30 knowledge check is not out of the question, where you might have access to some of the greatest libraries in the world....where you are friends with some of the esoteric scholars in existance. Now a DM is fine to say that knowledge is just simply not...

    The Silo (SPOILERS)

So the reveal at the end of season one is one of the coolest plot twists I have seen in quite a while. The while show sets up a common trope..... the silo is being oppressed by an oligarchy at the top who is suppressing the people, lying to them that the world outside is still destroyed and...

    The Silo (SPOILERS)

First, I want to reiterate....SPOILERS. There is a lot of cool reveals in the Silo, some of the best imo in recent years. I plead with you, if you have not watched the show....TURN AWAY NOW!!! Go watch and come back, do not lose out on the joy of the reveals. YOU HAVE BEEN...

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Divination, Commune, Legend Lore, or just straight up really high knowledge checks (since the banish is a "standard" ability of very high level gold dragons its not necessarily secret intel that someone would have to suss out, its just draconic knowledge). If players aren't going to prep a bit...

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

they said they are keeping the fear on specific dragons but not all. so its a way to further differentiate the colors. Now the gold will actually use its two breath weapons, rather than having them but never actually getting to use them in most fights.

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Cleric steps up. Divine Intervention, casts Hallow as an action.... no banishment allowed. Or a wish, using the clause "You grant up to ten creatures you can see immunity to a single spell or other magical effect for 8 hours". Or heck, the Wizard attacks the dragon by itself with...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

Ultimately it is trivial to just say "well a mob is just not going to do anything to the Titan" no matter what the mechanics actually say....and you could certainly argue that is the game's intention. Afterall it does the same thing for economies, basically going "this is not an eco simulator...

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

Yes there is a huge amount of control aspect to that banish and its a nice simple way to let the gold control the battlefield in all sorts of interesting ways with a very very simple mechanic. So bravo on that one. I will say a DM does have to be careful, you never want to banish a character...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

Oh not trained archers....guys with +0 dex, +0 attack. No training in the shortbow, just enough to fire the thing. 500 schlubs with barebones equipment take out an Immortal titan from like the dawn of creation. I get that 5e intentionally made it where high end threats were much more vulnerable...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

New Empyrean seems a noticeable boost from the old version. The new auto stun is neat as is the choice to take more damage and not be stunned. I think most characters of a high enough level to fight this guy will almost always take the damage....but if its two hits together....yeah I might take...

D&D 5E (2024) Is the Animal Lord MM Statblock released?

Hi all, I have heard about the new animal lord from the dungeon dudes, and the way they talk about it, it sounds like the statblock has been released. But I haven't found it, can someone point me to it please?
