    Comic Book Superheroes Unmasked

I watched this last night. It shows a lot of interesting tidbits on how the comic business developed. Who knew that the sidekicks developed out of a push to target pre-teen boys in the fifties? And I loved the S & M inferences they point out about the Wonder Woman comics.

Looking for a new book to read...

Not great, but not that bad. I like some of the ideas about how the legends could have formed based on actual events. His sex scenes are a bit much. I've never been to jolly ol' England, so how are the shrubberies? Monty Python thinks highly of them. I was just wondering how he compares to...

This Weekend at the Boxoffice - 06/28/2004

Oops. Let me say what a slow June movie month. Shrek 2 did start last month. Except for Spider-man, Riddick, and the Terminal there is nothing I want to go to the movies for that start(s)ed in June. There should be at least a half-dozen films each month I want to go to the movies to see over...

Looking for a new book to read...

I had a few books I was trying to get to about the Trojan War. They're all boxed up, but I don't know if they were realistic versions or not. I did want to ask if you have read Jack Whyte's Arthur books They are also pseudo-historical. Good books, but I wanted to see how they compared to...

I didn't even look at that. I saw Shrek 2, and that's it. The only other movie I will try to catch at the theater is The Terminal . What a slow movie summer.

Rate The Chronicles of Riddick (No CoR spoilers, some Pitch Black spoilers)

I'm glad I didn't read this thread before I went to see it. Good story, fair acting, great concepts, kick-butt special effects. Gave it a nine. It won't win any Oscars, but then again very few sci-fi/fantasy films ever have beyond technical awards, including most of what most of us here...

This is the first time a documentary has been #1 for the week. Going back to my comments from last week. May was a good month for movies, June had a few good movies early, and now blah. Thank god for Spidey. It's interesting to note that most summer movies are gauged now on how many millions...

As I see it, the movies are good babysitters, so ma and pa drop off the kids so they can go do their thing. I used to get this at my old work(a large book chain with BnN size stores). Just drop the kids off for a few hours and run your errands. Movie theaters get the same thing. "Yeah mom...

    Favorite Bond Movie.

Goldfinger's got the top spot. For some crazy reason I always liked For Your Eyes Only , which would take the #2 spot.

That is not fair and rude to everyone who went to see it.... I would say that comedies as a genre are too often overlooked by serious moviegoers because of their nature. I don't think it helps that there is such a glut of "no brainer silly comed(ies)". I have not seen this movie, so I don't...

It won't matter in eight days when everyone will be fighting for business over Spidey. Stiller is an OK actor and comedian IMHO. Sometimes he's worth watching, sometimes not. C'mon though, Dodgeball at number one in the summer. Some folks 's got problems.

Sunday's "Arthur" History Channel Special Lead In

They should play the Terry Jones' Medieval Lives every month at least. Good fun, and right on the money.

Ranger or bard, but I like Rangers better so that would be my choice. The party needs more firepower.

A Feast for Crows June 24?

When you look up Martin by name it has April 2004 for the release of the book. Sales rank is 33. Refund rank next week 1. BnN doesn't list it at all. Another large chain store shows August. Hey, the Hedge Knight comic is coming out as a collection this month!

    Rate Shrek 2

I'm going to have to watch the Far, far away scene in slow-motion when it comes out on DVD just to catch all of the little changes they made to some of the business names as they rode into town. The "cops" scene was great!
