    Monks and AC

I think I'd rather play a monk that could actually do damage, rather than plink 4 creatures for 1d8. Sure you can avoid being hit well, but at the same time, you're not really contributing a lot. It has been stated already that focusing on 1 opponent and downing them is much more effective...

    Readied Action vs Readied Action

Ditto on the no partial charges thing...except on a surprise round which apparently is allowed as per the rules compendium. I'd say last in first out regarding multiple readied actions though. That's the simplest way to handle it imo. I doubt it is spelled out in the rules anywhere...

    Improve DC for Wujen/Loremaster spells

Headband of intellect? At 12th level if you craft it yourself you can probably make the +6 version. thats +3 DC right there and several Bonus spells. I don't really know much about wu-jen though, other than i know they have fairly limited spell selections. And I remember the still/silent...

is this a valid tactic for shutting down a caster

If a wizard sees a cleric whos standing within a few steps of him, pause and start waiting, he would be an absolute fool to try and cast a spell nearby him. If you want to avoid metagaming, then instead it's 'that guy in platemail with the holy symbol' My 12 ranks in spellcraft ought to know...

    Alternate Protection from Arrows

At 9th level, I don't see fighting 60 CR1 critters being very fun... That just turns the fight into a 'be loaded with AE attacks, or waste an hour of real life time fishing for 2+s on your attack rolls'. Even if they kill a player, it won't be a heroic death, and you're players are a lot more...

    Dragon Shaman Question

I've never actually seen a DS played in a game, so my remarks are not necessarily 'professional' in nature. However I still dispute everyone saying that he can't be an effective 'tank' as a FTR/DS. If there were no support members then that's 1 thing, but he said there was both a bard and a...

Monks & the Improved Natural Attack Feat

Mmmm..... Improved natural attack at 6th level....Superior Unarmed Strike at 9th level and a monks belt and you're sitting at doing 16th level monk damage PLUS its a higher size category at 9th level. Pretty beefy....It's just too bad monks suck compared to swordsages, lol.

    Metamagics and Ice Axe

He has empower spell, maximize spell, and Divine metamagic x 2? That's 4 feats when a 5th level priest normally gets only 3 feats IF he's human...all of which are completely useless from first through 4th level. And at the most he should only have 8 (3 + charisma bonus) or so turn attempts...

    RE: Warlock's Eld. Blast question

That's why the orb spells should be banned...or at least raised to be 6th level spells. Wizards and sorcerers would still take them...that should tell you something.

    Need warblade suggestions please...

I just started playing a warblade in a Age of wurms campaign. I like the Bo9S book a lot, but am not really very sure of what maneuvers to take as far as what is most advantageous for warblades. Stats are really good, and rolled in front of the DM (yay!) Strength 17 Dex 16 Con 14 Wisdom 14...

    Protection against glitterdust?

At 7th level he can smack something for 8d6 with his scorching ray, or catch a whole lot more than 2-3 critters in a hallway with a web...or keep the rogue who snuck up on him and just stabbed him in the back for 30 damage by casting invisibility on himself. That much investment into spell...

    Dragon Shaman Question

I think going to 5th level DS and then getting fighter up to level 4 so you can take weapon spec and melee mastery is an ok option. If you didn't have the paladin and the bard in the group then I would think differently though. Inspire courage, heroism, haste, melee weapon mastery in a good...

Vampires and Disintegrate, does it destroy it? + Libris Mortis question

To me it shouldnt matter if the vampire turns to mist or turns to dust first....If it turns to mist first, that does not somehow negate that disentegrate is still going to turn it into dust, since a creature that is in gaseous form can still normally be targeted by spells. If the vampire turns...

    Condition Cards Download

I got a 'file link not found' message when I click the download button. Are these cards still available for download? I could REALLY use a set printed on cardstock. *edit* nevermind, posted without reading the second page of comments. Dude, these are totally awesome, thanks for doing the...

    Used wands?

We're allowed to buy partially charged wands in the 2 games I play in... We have always been able to, and it's never seemed abusive. It's already been pointed out that all wands the PCs will ever encounter are used unless they comission a full one or make it themselves. It seems just as...

Please help me with a Pearl of Power variant !

I agree with Pinotage. Pearls are fine the way they are. They are very much worth their cost, and not to powerful.

    A Couple Archmage Questions

no SR is kinda cute I suppose...But the sacrifice required to gain it is way too high. If your 5d6(or even 14d6) damage is making a serious impact on the combat at 18th level, then the melee people in your group are using cursed -5 nerf bats...and possibly maxed out improved combat expertise...

    A Couple Archmage Questions

Isn't the only restriction on using arcane fire that you expend an arcane spell? No book next to me. Arcane fire is THE single worst archmage pick IMO. A first level spell converts to 6d6 untyped damage for a ranged touch for avg 21 damage and you have to make a ranged touch and you can...

    Energy Missile

IMO it's counterintuitive to say energy missile is fine as originally printed....it scales twice as good as any other power printed in the book. And also....even if you didn't pay for the book with the stealth errata, the rules are still pretty clear that it's been changed. Anyone who read this...
