    Rainbow Servant Question

Keep in mind that the rainbow servant PrC was heavily nerfed in the errata. Other than that, why do you not like the Coatll? Just go with like 'Feathered servant' and worship phoenix instead...they are powerful magical creatures with the right sort of domain affinities.

    Augment Healing and Vigor spells

augment healing... There are mainly 2 schools of thought on augment healing. Group 1 thinks the feat has no effect on any Conjuration (healing) spell unless it actually cures hitpoint damage. In other words, lesser vigor doesn't actually heal any damage(it grants fast healing), therefore...

    What is the difference

the difference... The difference is that 3.5 is still dungeons and dragons, and 4.0 is some other totally different game with distinctly similar monsters. It's not a bad game in its own right....but it is NOT D&D.

Characters with Pounce! ALSO: Fair price for Pounce?

I don't agree with the notion that giving melee characters Full attacks nearly 100% of the time is remotely balanced. I don't really think it should be an epic feat...but IMO it's worth at least 5x what a ring of evasion is worth in terms of power. For that matter, the 'only the first...

Arcane Thesis - Too Powerful or Balanced?

I stand corrected. I no longer think it is overpowered for basic magic missile. I thought it did considerably more damage. Math Hard! apparently. I do still think it is too strong for a single feat though. Probably not 'way overpowered' like I originally thought though. I think a feat...

Arcane Thesis - Too Powerful or Balanced?

I didn't do the exact math which was why I said 'around'...So 25 base + avg of 17 more for 42. I think in my head I originally multiplied the roll by 1.5 like you normally would for just being empowered. Cuz that would be right at 50 pts. I still think that's too much automatic damage. IMX...

Arcane Thesis - Too Powerful or Balanced?

I used magic missile as the example because it is pretty much the conventional wizards basic attack spell at low levels. The Arcane Thesis version is 50ish damage that requires no attack roll, can be split among targets, has no saving throw, and essentially is unresistable. Unless you have...

Arcane Thesis - Too Powerful or Balanced?

That makes it WAY too powerful for a single feat. It was a strong feat the way I understood it before, which was +2 caster levels and -1 from the total spell level. The errata version is way over the top. The 4th level Magic missile doing average of around 50 force damage is a good example...

Radiant Servant # of turn attempts

RSOP does not grant any extra turn undead attempts. Only lets you convert more regular turns INTO greater turnings. They have the same number of turns per day that any other cleric has. 3+charisma mod, +4 for each extra turning feat, +4 if they have the undeath domain. +4 per...

XP awards for fighting same monster twice?

The xp for the swarm encounter should have been awarded to the whole group, even without the magic missileing....If they were close enough to see some of the bats as they flew away then they were close enough to have helped the person down in the cave if he had been unlucky and started screaming...

Questions that came up in game.

There is pretty much just 1 potential abuse for allowing all attack rolls at once. If there are multiple opponents with ranges of ACs and the archers forst attack(or any other that isnt his last) drops a foe, then the player would be able to know what his attack roll was before it was assigned...

    I want to believe

Plus, it would be difficult to put together the exact thought processes of each player when all this happened. Could be the spell caster's player was thinking illusion right from the get go, but the more headstrong guy who was in a hurry to hack off the vampires head was the one leading the out...

    D&D 3.x unfamiliar with 3E, can someone recommend a class/build?

Straight clerics are a very strong choice to play. They can wear heavy armor, have tons of great spells for both offense and defense, use average melee weapons, but can fight on par or better than fighters if they use the right buffs. They can heal and nuke, although their direct nukes are...

    Paladin dmg

The math doesn't sound right to me, but if I am wrong, why exactly do you need to be able to deal something like 3 or 4 times your hitpoints in damage in a single attack?

    I want to believe

The way I see it, the illusion can't force them to take any actions or not take any actions. It's not mind affecting. They can know something is wrong and not quite perceive how to pierce the illusion they think might be there. Thats when you resort to the other tactics mentioned. Thats the...

Things you want to play but never seem to...

I just created a 1st level druid planning to go Dru4 Wiz3 Arcane Heirophant10 Mystic Theurge 3. Always wondered how they would be in practice. I would go Dru3 Wiz3 Theurge 2 to qualify for the PrC and end up with 9th level spells, but the game most likely will never get that far and it wont...

    Yeth hounds and damage reduction

They require silver weapons to ignore the DR in 3.5e. In 3.0, any +1 or better weapon or a silver weapon would work. Damage reduction never applies to spells...ever. A spell always ignores damage reduction even if it deals a type of damage that the creature has DR against. From the...

    Samurai .. savage tide

Samurai are terribad! Kensai aren't much better, although they do have much better flavor. I was soooo disappointed with the way those 2 classes were designed. I am a huge fan of the samurai-esque warrior. I agree that a warblade is the best and most effective representation of such an idea...

    Mindbender tips

I agree with Jack....It's a really terribad PrC. Great if you want to water down a casting NPC so the PCs can walk all over him though. As a general rule, any PrC that costs more than 3 casting levels is an awful choice for a caster. Because 9th level spells are a HUGE sacrifice to give up...

a way to deal with lax players?

It's a little funny to hear someone say that a wizard who likes fireball and magic missile, and a cleric that likes to cast Prayer are 'under casting'. All 3 of those spells rank fairly high on the 'best spells for the level' list. Magic missile is widely considered THE best 1st level spell...
