    D&D 5E (2014) What 5E needs is a hundred classes

If that is the case, why play D&D at all? If the sole purpose of the game is the game side of the spectrum, why not just pick up Cataan or Chess, for crying out loud? Belittling other people's opinions in a condescending know-it-all manner and pretending to superiority because of some...

Do You Own a Valuable CCG Card...?

I wish. However, looking through the a value catalog last night, and knowing that my cards are probably VF at best, F on average, I realized I could probably net $500 or so for my collection. I'll have to look through my storage unit and go through them card by card. I could use the $500 a lot...

Question: How do you rationalize opportunity attacks?

I do sort of like the idea that a fumbled roll allows a response, but Janx's point above is why I stopped using fumble tables in my own games. But, even if I did use a fumble roll like you have above, which is intriguing, I don't like the idea that my response (assuming I'm the Vanir) to Conan's...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next weekly art column!

The images in the post are both too big and cut off, but I opened them in new tabs, and I think they are interesting to consider, particularly the one of the two version of Elminster. I'll be honest in that I've always pictured old-school wizards in pointy hats. I don't think it's a necessity so...

Roll20: A new virtual tabletop focused on storytelling

See, that's a different gaming experience than my own. I've never had a GM do that, and as GM I've never done that either. I trust my players to be honest, and I don't generally game with people that I can't trust like that.

Roll20: A new virtual tabletop focused on storytelling

I don't see how integrated character sheets and predetermined macros for rolling dice emulates sitting around a table. Whereas I do see integrated video and voice chat, character sheets that no one else can see, and the individual rolling of dice where the mechanics get out of the way of the...

So I decided to build a game table

Actually, one benefit of the recessed center, at least from what I can see in those pictures, is that you could conceivably leave minis in place if you have to stop mid-battle or something.

    L&L 4/16 - A Walk Down Monster Lane

Fair enough, I'm not disputing your experience at all. It just at odds with my own, and I was curious as to why. I thought the fact that it opened flat made it easy to use, and I only brought the sheets to games for creatures I planned to use. I also used the ring enforcer things (these things...

    L&L 4/16 - A Walk Down Monster Lane

Really? I think that alone was one of my favorite things about 2E. But then I also want all of my cookbooks and other common reference books to be open ring binder format. Lays flat, easy to pull out only the necessary items for a particular use, expandable, and perfect for reference.

    GLEE #60: Saturday Night Glee-ver

Not a horrible set-list. I'll be honest in that my enthusiasm for the show seems to be waning, and I'm not entirely sure why. I think part of it was the 2 month hiatus right in the middle of the season, and the rest has a lot to do, I think, with my general dislike for most pop music. I enjoy...

Roll20: A new virtual tabletop focused on storytelling

I haven't paid for any, but the free ones I've used don't have this out of the box. And the frameworks for MapTool bog my system down to unusable speeds, so that's not an option either. My group currently uses base MapTool and just shares our character sheets via email, and it works well enough...

Gord the Rogue - Where to Purchase

It's worth looking at Paperbackswap.com. I recently got a copy of the first book from there. Edit: I just checked, and Paperbackswap.com has books 1, 2, 3, and 4. http://www.paperbackswap.com/Gary-Gygax/author/?t=aol.

    The Legend of Korra

Yeah, mine is something like that, except move Korra to 11 and I don't watch Transformers or Bleach, but still, two full hours of decent cartoons--I haven't had that kind of Saturday since 1992 with Darkwing Duck, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and X-Men.

Question: How do you rationalize opportunity attacks?

the Jester - I have no idea what I just read and I can't xp you, but know that I'm laughing my ass off trying to puzzle that system out.

How Were AoOs / OAs Explained to You?

I learned from reading the 3.0 books back when they were released. I didn't have any problems understanding or visualizing their use. In fact, of all the "complex" systems that rack up complaints, AoO is the one I feel deserves the scorn the least.

Question: How do you rationalize opportunity attacks?

The implementation of a facing rule would "fix" a lot of the problems with AoOs. And I put "fix" in quotes because a facing rule just adds more complexity itself and causes as many problems as it fixes. Yeah, AoOs are unrealistic, but so are HP, healing surges, and a host of other problems out...

Realism vs. Believability and the Design of HPs, Powers and Other Things

So every character should be able to do some magic, some melee, some healing, and some stealing? I disagree completely. As in 100%. I think if we were standing on a globe, we'd be standing on opposite poles.

    [April] What are you watching?

Obviously different strokes for different folks. I literally just got done (5 minutes ago) watching that with my wife, and want that 2 hours back. I was bored, annoyed at the color palette (and the weirdly dark filming that forced me to play with brightness settings on my tv for the first time...

    The Legend of Korra

Supposedly two seasons of 13 episodes each.

    Classical Mythology RPG?

It's spam, not a person with a legitimate post. That's a bot scraper that copy-pasted someone's earlier suggestion and has other posts that do the same thing. Look at the second post, and you'll see that it's exactly the same as what trancejeremy posted.
