    D&D General Are You There D&D? It's Me, J.R.R. Tol-KEEEEN!

I don't think Rowling tracks to Tolkien. HOWEVER, Rowling tracks pretty darn closely to the Books of Magic comic series about Timothy Hunter, and the Worst Witch series. I am not saying she ripped them off. Just that there are some close similarities.

    D&D General Are You There D&D? It's Me, J.R.R. Tol-KEEEEN!

I disagree with your opinion on this topic and frankly I am outraged you'd say that. Outraged I say! What were we talking about again?

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 5e 2024 Monk Handbook

It seems to me dual wielding daggers will be a very useful combo with nick and a monk, and the daggers do your monk damage die rather than their normal d4. Particularly a shadow monk, which can benefit from advantage on all their attacks in their darkness. I am not convinced you need to...

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

No, you cannot get an actual new edition. This one is selling extraordinarily well for them (more PHBs sold each year than were sold in the entire lifetime of 3e), expanded the audience hugely, and so they will stick with it for a long time. They never once said it was intended to be a next...

D&D General Ray Winninger on 5e’s success, product cadence, the OGL, and more.

It's because that's where most people go. You can get things cheaper than Amazon often, but people go to Amazon because it's a central shopping stop. Same as DMs Guild. Many people simply don't look elsewhere.

We certainly talked about it here at the time. I vaguely recall maybe a pre-release interview mentioning this strategy too.

D&D General Ray Winninger on 5e’s success, product cadence, the OGL, and more.

Ray does seem to dispute this issue in the interview, stating "they" (meaning, I suppose, you and the team there at 5e launch) wanted to do a product a month but didn't have the resources for it and only came on this strategy later after the results were so positive. However he also repeatedly...

D&D General Ray Winninger on 5e’s success, product cadence, the OGL, and more.

It begins at 39 min and I found some other items noteworthy so I am going to do my own summary which expands on yours. 1) When he took over D&D he was told his teams goal was to double the size of D&D by 5 years. They doubled it in 3 years instead. 2) They were selling about as many PHB every...

For those who want to dive into the video's D&D section, he begins talking about D&D at around the 39 minute mark.

The D&D 4th edition Rennaissaince: A look into the history of the edition, its flaws and its merits

It's not working, at least from my perspective, when you're over the top angry and the posts you respond to are casual and calm. I've seen you disagree with people plenty of times without this level of angst. It's why I asked what was up.

Is there some reason every post you're making in here is so aggressive?

D&D General Poll: Did you watch the D&D cartoon when it was new?

Yes, watched it live from episode 1 on first release in the U.S.. And I looked forward to it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

They didn't know where in the chain things had happened. It's only from that very investigation (the investigation you earlier claimed didn't happen as you repeatedly said they had no investigators) that they eventually tracked what happened. Because when you locate stolen goods as part of an...

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

Their actual reputation is pretty good these days with corporate culture circles. I am not feeling sorry for them. They're just a semi-big corporation with all that comes with being a semi-big corporation these days. I have no feelings about them. I do however appreciate accuracy in describing...

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

They were in fact investigating what appears to be, and very likely is, stolen goods concerning a leak in their distribution chain. The guy whose house they were at did not steal them (though they didn't know that at the time), but it does appear they were stolen to begin with. Possibly...

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

The cards were stolen. They were not stolen by the guy who eventually received them. It appears an employee at WOTC may have stolen them, though WOTC is remaining quiet about that. That's what can likely be deduced from the deleted video, and the explanation about where the end-recipient got...

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

I don't know why you have trouble imaging Pinkertons has departments outside of their Protection (security) department, but you already made a bold false statement about them not having investigators (though I think that's now their largest department). I'd think you'd be more humble than to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

This is false. There are MANY departments at the Pinkerton agency. The have a Protection department, with many sub groups. A Consulting department with many sub groups. And an Investigations department with many sub groups. People, like yourself, often mistake all Pinkertons as being from the...
