Can you help a bored DM?

All of the 4e modules are terrible. They are 30 encounters in a row and you'll have forgotten why you're in this vast inexplicable dungeon by the time you reach the final fight. Get the dungeon delve book instead, slap your own plot in there, and have fun. They're small dungeons balanced to...

    How Low is Too Low

It's just an example to show that if people are finding that monsters take a while to kill (note the neverending "grind" accusations 4e seems to attract) it may well not be that the monsters have too many hitpoints, it's that you're not doing enough damage to them. And as you we both agree, the...

D&D 4E [4e] Why not savor the PHB3? Major spoilers on the new races and classes.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only person in the entire D&D world who really couldn't care less about psionics. It really seems like dropping a 1950s mad scientist with his mind control laser into the fantasy genre. Oddly enough, I love mind flayers.

    How Low is Too Low

Just because you can make a striker who doesn't do much damage doesn't mean you should. If you consider low damage output to be a problem, perhaps the onus is on you to do a little research and see where it can be brought up. After all, if you were playing a fighter who went down every fight...

    How Low is Too Low

According to the Wizards Optimisation forums for 4e: "What I've observed is: 14 DPR(1st), 20 DPR(6th), 40 DPR(12th), 60 DPR(16th), 100 DPR (24th), 150 DPR(30th)" DPR meaning damage per round. If you're going to go "that's not possible", one of many character builds that accomplish it is here...

    D&D 4E What Doesn't 4E Do Well?

Well, each player only starts with four powers (5 if you're human). Play a lower-level game if too many powers is a problem. At least 50% of your "triggering events" seem to be charges. I haven't had a PC with a power triggered by a charge ever in 4e. Of course, I've only played up to 6th level...

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

You say this as though you are telling me something I don't know. DR 10/- is a lot worse than the benefits of the high level shapechanging spells.

[WFRP3] Back up character if someone forgets - Stella! The Camp Follower.

Haha, this is a great idea. To contribute, though, we tend to keep the characters with the DM. No chance to cheat (not that it's a major concern anyway) and the DM better not forget his stuff.

    Pathfinder 1E Opinions on Pathfinder

Personally, I don't think Pathfinder goes far enough to balance casters and non-casters. Fighters get a few extras thrown their way, but comparing their DR 10/- to something like the benefits a high level shapechanging spell will give you is still a rather bad joke. Still, I hope it does well...

    D&D 4E What Doesn't 4E Do Well?

    1. Agreed. I really don't get the whole mindset of, "I can't make a useless lump no adventuring party would want to bring along! My playstyle is ruined!" 2. This can be houseruled, of course. If a player really hates powers, just give them a basic attack that does 2[W] damage + stat, increasing...

    D&D 4E New players, new to 4e, 14th-level campaign

Maybe have them be a monster for the first couple of games until they work out the basics? It would save you the trouble of working out magic items and all that jazz, and most monsters only have a couple of powers to deal with. It could be unbalancing as hell though. It may honestly just be...

Warhammer 3E vs. D&D 4E vs. Descent (Road to Legend)

I hate to go all "you're playing it wrong" on you, but if you only like combats in short bursts, why not have a roleplaying-heavy 4e game where you do most stuff in-character without using any real rules, then have the occasional combat when it feels meaningful and appropriate? Sometimes I...

Can Dominate disarm a person's weapon?

Agreed. Players aren't the only people allowed to push guys into fires.

    Falling off the 4ed bandwagon

    I disagree.

    OoooooOOOOOOOOOooooo.

    Cantrips

I know, it kinda sucks. I like how you can chuck Mage Hand on at the end of your action to do all sorts of stuff, would be nice if you could do the same with the other two.

The Elfish Gene - Another attack on gamers

Generally speaking, D&D players are the worst people that exist. Just saying.

    Cantrips

Just going to chip in and say that cantrips at will as a minor action are totally awesome and are almost enough reason to play a 4e wizard all on their own. I would love to see them added to some other 4e classes.

    Monster Healing Surges

I'd be a bit pissed off if my DM said something like, "You're dominated. You spend the next five rounds using all your daily powers against the floor." There's a reason the dominate condition allows only at-will powers.
