It does not have decent psionics - but that isn't a roadblock, rather that's something cool and general to put in the book - which is sort of in keeping with other books for 5e. A real psion class would be a really cool thing, though I suppose the players that are really emotionally invested...

It still pops up in some adventure modules, or things very much like it. The Evil/Good spectrum is pretty bizarre if you want to move beyond the wargaming roots of the game. And intelligent races with "evil" in their descriptor are very much for guilt-free murder.

The thing about an ad populum argument is that it is naive and misses the fact that, first and foremost, D&D is a business and the books are product. It isn't a question of if 5e will reach the point where sales of core books dips enough for WotC to release a new edition, it is when.

D&D would be better without elves. Most games would. I don't think it is that simple, particularly with a trope-ish race with as much baggage as orcs.

No dex no AC worth a hoot. No int and the bulk of the reason to take wizard in the first place isn't that great, also the initiative bonus and con save bonus during bladesong is bad with low int. Unless we're talking intlock, a bladesinger/hexblade is very MAD with four attributes that matter...

Sure, but it is quite strong with the SCAG cantrips for a bladesinger. Especially at 14: (1d8+10)*3 + (2d8)*2 + SCAGtrip riders * .65 ~33.475 DPR (not including riders) with 65% accuracy at 14, plus an offhand attack option. (~1d6+10; 3 of the previous d8s must be d6s for this to work)...
