D&D 5E (2024) Moon druid with weapons mastery?

Sounds more like a Ranger or actually Barbarian thing. Definitely wouldn't have an issue with a class that focuses on fighting while partially or fully shapeshifted. That might be an interesting entry into playing more monstrous characters.

    D&D 5E (2024) I like the new Warlock

Could you give a timestamp please? I watched the video and I can't see it. I generally have a lot of time for Chris, but his mocking dismissal of the issue that a number of us see without apparently understanding it was disappointing. I'm aware that he might just be reacting to youtube comments...

D&D 5E (2024) Moon druid with weapons mastery?

Probably not. Mastery seems to be intended to be what separates dedicated martial characters from the other characters able to fight in melee despite also being full spellcasters etc. (And yes, there should have been a sweepstakes going for "How long after the Fighter Getting Nice Things do the...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

Are there any classes that couldn't perform those feats, all else being equal? Fighters are the most representative of the martials' issues: Lack of interesting and tactical things to do in combat. Lack of capability out of combat etc. The other martials most definitely have the same issues...

    D&D 5E (2014) (+) Ideas For Martial Features

Inflicting most conditions. Blinded, deafened, etc. Extended and improvised usage of skills and tools. Breaking, or cleaving through some obstacles, with capability increasing with level, from wooden doors, right up to stone and force effects at tier 4. Improved capability in any conflict...

    D&D 5E (2014) Flying PCs

In most of the games I run, I do not generally allow them. I would generally regard continuous flight as roughly of the same power level as resistance to damage.

D&D 5E (2024) How should the Warlord be implemented in 1DnD?

I think an ideal "Warlord that I'd like to see" would be a reintroduction of the the ToB Warblade, with the Warlord simply being one that chose mostly White Raven abilities. Other tactical warrior types would be available simply by choosing other disciplines. Second would probably be an actual...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

OK, so to highlight "the absurdity of the rogue's abilities" the game mechanics behind the situation you posited had the Rogue match the effect of a Wish spell with a skill check. Do you believe that that is an honest representation of what people are asking for?

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

If you compose a situation in order to mock the point of view of another person, you should absolutely expect to be called on its logical inconsistencies. You declared that the Paladin's head was severed in order to bolster your argument that restoring an immediately dead person to life should...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

Flight confers immunity to damage from a significant chunk of the Monster Manual. It automatically bypasses many challenges that others might fail through skill checks, or even be ruled impossible using mere skill. 5th level is not where Fly becomes problematic. How would you reflect that in...

D&D 5E (2024) How should the Warlord be implemented in 1DnD?

OK. I think I see it. - Warlords matching Clerics for healing would be bad, because healing is one of the Cleric's primary niches? So Warlords should aim for healing at the level of secondary healers like Bards, Celestial Warlocks etc to preserve the Cleric's niche? I think that we have...

D&D 5E (2024) How should the Warlord be implemented in 1DnD?

A single-class bard should absolutely be able to pick up some of the Warlord's low-end abilities through feats just as other characters can pick up a Bard's low-end spells through feats.

    D&D 5E (2014) Strength Monk Ideas

Monks use magic to enhance their body, so I could see an unarmoured defense based on Str and Wisdom where the style is based on rapid movement to avoid blows rather than grace and balance, possibly even including channelling Ki to harden your body. Flurry of blows being replaced by a straight...

D&D General What Does an Archfey Want?

Archfey are interesting and useful for DMs because they are not driven by "logic", and can have motivations and desires that don't make in-game sense. You could have her ask for things that would benefit the Kua-Tuo colony, or increase the amount of magic flowing into her temple. Or just for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Falchion & Finesse?

Whoa. Blast from the past. I regard Finesse as incompatible with a two-handed grip being required or an improvement, because the entire point of putting two hands on a handle or haft is to improve the leverage and force you can exert on the weapon. A finesse weapon does not require the speed...

    D&D 5E (2024) I like the new Warlock

Not a fan. I don't like how oppressive Hex + ED + AB spam is in the current version of the Warlock, and this new version is pushing them even further in that direction. Its not just cementing Hex and Eldritch Blast into the class itself that does this, it is also reducing the power of its...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

The 2014 Champion Fighter was one of the benchmarks for a low-power character. I'm going to wait until we can compare an optimised 2014 BM Fighter with a OneD&D equivalent before I make any judgements about power levels.

D&D General Fighting Law and Order

If the players were full murderhobos, then they would hardly have agreed to surrender when first accused after they were framed. They could have insisted on some other form of restriction rather than go straight to jail. What happened between then and when they started killing guards to escape...

D&D 5E (2024) The Half-Casting Warlock is bad at combat

A Ranger will have access to the weapon Mastery system. They can use Push with their Longbow for a similar effect.

D&D 5E (2024) The Half-Casting Warlock is bad at combat

I feel that the reason that the warlock was compared to an archery ranger is that they are both half-caster classes with a strong emphasis on their at-will attacks. Passive-aggressive posturing aside, the classes are built to do similar things in combat and are the most similar in general...
