D&D 5E (2014) Using booming blade on a reaction attack with sanctuary question

If they have moved exactly 5f they are on the line between grid spaces. Which way they finish the last .000000000001 bit of movement is up to them. That one of the reasons grid play is a consider a variant. The assumption is foot by foot so this isn't a problem. Always a trade off when using...

D&D 5E (2014) Using booming blade on a reaction attack with sanctuary question

Exactly. The edge of the reach is something the rules don't play nice with because everything and everything aren't blocks of stuff filling a grid. That's why of you want to use a pole arm to make an AO with the last bullet they must already be ~9-10 ft or you get the issue with hitting...

D&D 5E (2014) Using booming blade on a reaction attack with sanctuary question

If they leave then they are out of range so the AO can't happen. The only logical conclusion that works with all the other factors, like sentinel and BB , is the movement of space is attempted, the the reaction occurs, then the movement is resolved. That can only happen of the target has agency...

D&D 5E (2014) Using booming blade on a reaction attack with sanctuary question

The trigger is "right before the creature leaves.." Unless your AO includes a feature that forces the target to continue moving they can just stop... meaning they have spend the movement but remained I'm the same "space". It's a result of the how the game breaks up space And movement into grids...

D&D 5E (2014) Is Tasha's More or Less The Universal Standard?

I'm usually pretty open to most content as long as it falls in the tolerance of the given party/table. Tasha has a mix of good features, bad features, good ideas with bad implication, and bad ideas with good. On par for experimental content.

D&D 5E (2014) Using booming blade on a reaction attack with sanctuary question

Not uncommon with doom booming. Even if they aren't under the BB effect before they decide to move getting tagged by a BB AO could change their plan. Same for feints tactics to draw AOs to eat reactions so more detrimental ones can't occur. Popular for some BM fighters wanting to trigger a...

D&D 5E (2014) Do bracers of archery benefit ranged spell attacks?

Well technically artificer spells all have material components and they get the braces built in...

Totemic binder. You channel a little bit of magic into items that bind minor spirits and use them to power your spells and infusions.

D&D 5E (2014) Not Much Ado About Bless

Don't really have any way to compare them past the action/slot cost. Bless is one of those options that just work where command can singlehandedly end a challenge it do nothing. Does upcast well which is an other thing cleric spells tend to do. One of the reasons order domain is low key so good...

D&D 5E (2014) Not Much Ado About Bless

Yes bless is a good spell. it the best use of the action, spell slot, and concentration until 3rd lv spells one into play and even then it holds it own. On brand for cleric spells in 5e honestly. Not flashy but works. Does it break anything? No. While impactful it doesn't even get in the same...

    D&D 5E (2014) Grappling and gfb/bb

Most BB users pick up warcaster so it's probably a none issue even if your table tries to follow the juggling rules for hand economy. Prone/grapple won't trigger the rider from BB but it doubles down on the punishment for trying to move away.

D&D 5E (2014) Silvery Barbs Overpowered or Overrated?

Both and Neither all at once. It's mostly unnecessary as a spell option and would be better served as a class/subclass feature. On classes that don't have native access to the other 1st lv reaction option is will probably be picked up at some point (bard)

    D&D 5E (2014) Truly Understanding the Martials & Casters discussion (+)

Pretty much. Not only was the six to eight encounter range not developed prior to allotment and recovery rate of resources that number is also based on the XP budget that is presented in the same section. What's more is that budget is actually from an earlier edition than what actually saw...

    D&D 5E (2014) Truly Understanding the Martials & Casters discussion (+)

It's bound to be brought up so it might as well be me. The idea that six to eight medium encounters acting as a baseline is a misconception and it leads to all kinds of misunderstandings. At most it's a suggestion of how much a party can handle in a adventuring Day based on play test feedback...

D&D 5E (2014) A Compilation of all the Race Changes in Monsters of the Multiverse

Someone is a fan of QI but yeah that's the problem with PC creation when trying to find a good point of reference with the rest of the game logic. It's one of those things that will always leave half the player base that care about such things dissatisfied.

D&D 5E (2014) Looking for monsters to challenge a party of 6 level 17 characters

Single targets are always hard to pull off in 5e without it just breaking down one way or the other. Saying that you can have something that feels more challenging than it really is. Glabrezu have at will dispel magic which can catch parties off guard if they utilize lots of spells, Storm...

D&D 5E (2014) A Compilation of all the Race Changes in Monsters of the Multiverse

Maybe I'm the odd one out but I would prefer keeping goblinoids as fey and kicking elfs and their 4000 subtypes alongside a lot of of the other humanoids out of that grouping.

D&D 5E (2014) Aren't Short Rest classes *better* in "story-based" games rather than dungeon crawls?

Warlocks are not full casters in the sense that they don't match description that we've given to that group of player options. Sure they get access to up to 9th level spells but they go about it and it completely unique fashion which is why the comparison the wizards is always going to fall...

D&D 5E (2014) Aren't Short Rest classes *better* in "story-based" games rather than dungeon crawls?

The power of an extra spell known has a strong relationship with the number of spell slots you have available to potential spend and your original spell availability count. It's not like warlocks are suffering with lack of good options for most of the spell levels they get and due to how they...
