An "appropriate challenge" in D&D is not a fair fight, but a fun fight the PCs win while expending some of their daily resources.

Most people in D&D can't do this though. A powerful spellcaster can tell you that he spoke with the gods, but you personally have no way of verifying the truth of such statements, you have to take them on faith.

As a miniatures enthusiast I prefer dragons to have more or less the same appearance aside from color, that way I can paint any dragon figure as any color dragon and it will fit.

The ability is more or less a ribbon so I wouldn't replace it with anything. Don't like it? Don't use it! Your character won't be any weaker for it.

Capybaras are their own kind of creature. No one who has encountered a Giant Space Capybara has ever returned to tell the tale.

Only content that's been superseeded by new versions is considered legacy on D&D beyond, so most of the 2014 stuff outside the PHB isn't legacy. If you want to play with 2024 content only you'll have to restrict available sources to the 2024 PHB.

You play D&D with an AI DM, but instead of rolling a d20 to resolve actions, you pull the lever of a slot machine. After inserting coins of course.

From the illustrations of the tarrasque, it doesn't look like it's anatomy allows for throwing anything. It's a quadruped with limited shoulder mobility. A breath weapon sounds good!

I wonder if the 2024 Tarrasque will have some way of dealing with flying enemies? The 2014 Tarrasque is not much of a challenge for any high level party, unless it catches them by surprise in a dungeon.

What about killing someone else to save yourself and 50 thousand others? What if the person you killed would have perished along with everyone else if you had done nothing?

I think it really depends on the players. Some would be intrigued by what happened and want to investigate what happened while they were "out", others would find the whole thing to be a gross violation of player agency. But nobody is going to go on with their business as if nothing happened, so...

What evidence do you have that only a small segment of the fanbase wanted 2014 content to be easily usable?

Having to use an attunement slot on something that basically allows you to work around arbitrary restrictions on your subclass features is painful, though...

I genuinely prefer Solasta's story to the over-the-top nonsense of BG3. Sometimes simple but believable is better.
