I subscribe too, though I don't visit those boards and haven't noticed D20 bashing. I've always found it interesting, if not exactly useful. Hite's Suppressed Transmissions are a highlight.

There's another system coming out soon (early summer maybe) from one of the other d20 designers. Sorry can't remember the name but I'm sure someone else will post it. It supposed to be more Battlesystem based I think, with rules for kingdoms, raising armies etc.

I don't know if the Fiends would allow a nation, that is not fiendish to exist beyond the Last Haven. Would they not have re-established control over all evil humanoid groups in the time since they came?

The Holy-Roman Empire is how I saw it too, with lots of rivalry thats only kept in check by the Great Pact.

I would say they lean strongly towards evil (at least originally). Over the millenia, their natural tendencies were probably restrained by the influence of the other "good" peoples. Perhaps they are more influenced by their baser needs than the other peoples. Giants haven't been mentioned...
