Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

I asked him that. He said they'd get to try and take down me instead. It would have been interesting academically, but Dranko would have only sacrificed himself if he could make the Adversary a kinder, happy, fluffy God -- and that wasn't in the cards.

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (updated 6/2... Just to be clear, this is exactly what happened at the gaming table. Exactly. And Kay's player got to game for, what, 15 minutes? But you can't fight a God, not in this world. I think at this point he started to...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

I felt kind of bad for Sagiro. He was presumably planning an epic battle. Instead, Dranko got layered with protective spells and was on full defensive. I don't remember what my AC was, but it didn't suck -- even if I can't get out of a maze to save my life. Also: screw you, Azhant!

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

It seems like grievously bad form to give us ethical conundrums as the world is ending.

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

Sagiro is notorious for loving practical jokes. If he updates right to the very final post, and then never updates again, please don't say that I never warned anyone. :D

And there's your argument. It was a doozy, and a long time coming. Sagiro had me entirely suckered. It never even occurred to me that that was a dream. Humility, indeed.

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

I think it's just the nature of serial storytelling. I can remember more than a half dozen mentions here in the storyhour of his sanity (wisdom) taking a hit, nearly every time he draws on the power, but there's no reason to remember it unless you were looking for it. Mechanically, his wisdom...

She tells us how, although I missed it at the time: the mark of pursuit on her face.

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

That is a fabulous question. The likely answer is that what's inside Dranko isn't a Far Realms creature. It's some swollen, putrescent nugget of information too horrible to touch with his brain. Even brushing up against it erodes his sanity. The fact that it's too horrible for a demon lord is...

It was horrifyingly epic. I can't believe we were nearly defeated by a sphincter. SO EMBARRASSING.

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

Surviving the thousand-fold was step 1 in "Dranko learns about humility." I was of mixed mind about the mechanics involved with permanent hit point loss. On one side, it's so far from common that it's virtually unheard of, permanent con loss aside. Nuking Dranko's hit points stabs into the...

Which Game Would YOU Choose for Wil Wheaton's Tabletop RPG Spinoff?

Thinking about this, if I were Wil, I'd feature an ongoing campaign that's interspersed with one-shots of other RPGs. That breaks the pattern and keeps things fresh. So I'd play 3 sessions of a campaign, 1 session of Dungeon World, 3 sessions of a campaign, 1 Night's Black Agents game, etc.

Which Game Would YOU Choose for Wil Wheaton's Tabletop RPG Spinoff?

GUMSHOE would be great. And can you even imagine TimeWatch? I'd also be a huge fan of a Dread game. Personally, though, I just want to run one for them. Crazy-stupid-fun.

Sagiro, did I miss part of this fight? I think I did. And I am so glad I made clucking noises as Ylerba fled. :D
