Logic behind sales of "Expedition to Castle Greyhawk"?

That's the problem. The sheer amount of content (crunch) over so many books by so many different authors makes it like finding a needle in a haystack for actual useful game world content (fluff).

    Latest purchases

Frostburn is superior to Sandstorm IMO. Unless you are going to do alot of desert campaigning, but beyond the environmental rules, nothing really grabbed me in Sandstorm. BTW: Besides my Dragon/Dungeon subs running dry soon, I have bought ZERO gaming products this year, and only look forward...

Logic behind sales of "Expedition to Castle Greyhawk"?

Well articulated post GVD, it says what I was thinking but in more words as usual. The rule of 2 has a very Sith-feel to it I might add ;) Since Rouse is reading this thread I will throw in my biggest desire for GH and that is not a new setting book primarily. It is ending the use of GH as the...

    Are DMs subsidizing player fun?

I own and use primarily three books, the PHB, DMG and MM1. I too run AP's from paizo at a meager subscription cost (and even that is now bye-bye) when compared to the tons of cash my players throw into splat books which I generally refuse to buy (but have on pdf, wink), the PHB and in some cases...

    Myconid doing an air guitar

I'm not a big fan of Baxa art but that is too funny! Hmm...what if someone added some Dire Badgers?

    When goblins are cool!

Unless those vanilla monsters are scaled to the PCs its nerfed by high PC skill checks (hard to Hide from those Spot-characters) and numerous combat busting feats/class abilities (Oh Mr Monster has improved grab? too bad, PC has Close Combat Fighting). I still stand by the low level is more...

    When goblins are cool!

Low level play is so much more fun than high level play I think. The tension is high even vs weak creatures and every trick in the book must be employed to stay alive. You lose that goblin fun at mid levels and up.

Logic behind sales of "Expedition to Castle Greyhawk"?

I believe Castle GH will blow all the Expedition mods out of the water saleswise and in the end it won't make a shred of difference to WotC bringing Hawk back. Paizo had kept up GH's popularity through the Adventure Paths for years. If that wasn't enough to revive the setting in print, this book...

Rogues: essential class or sacred cow?

Rogues have infinitely more variety than any class. The reason? Skill points. I nearly ALWAYS start at 1st level with rogue merely for the ton of skill points and class skill choices.

    Gleemax = Enworld

I'm still not feeling it. I guess it'll have to wait till after gencon when the answers are more clear.

Star Wars Saga RPG: Square Book? WTF

I'm still not sold, but not turned off either. Oh yeah, there is a sample character sheet in the book too. Square character sheets. Try that one out yall!

Star Wars Saga RPG: Square Book? WTF

Star Wars needs a gimmick to stand out? When it was first shown to me I thought it was a coffee table book about the 30th anniversary. Then when I found out it was the new RPG rulebook I did a doubletake.

Star Wars Saga RPG: Square Book? WTF

Has anyone else got this book yet? I've seen it and it's well...SQUARE! It's so odd I haven't even got any comments on the content itself. Anyone know WHY wizards went with that format?

Are the Scarlet bro's and Iuz holding GREYHAWK back?

What was that bit about Eastfair and orcs being 'G'? I'm confused.

    OotS 452

That big wave of hobgoblins reminds me of my youth when I would draw stick figure battles on my class notebooks. Damn who would've thought that could be compelling fiction.

Too many supplements a cause for burnout?

As a DM I've began to neglect newer products while my players continue to buy them and implement them. I am burn out on trying to learn a hundred new PrC and a thousand new spells and feats. When a new one of any of these pops up, it bogs the game down severely. I tend to stick to the core 3...

Good interview. I have an 'I'll believe it when I see it' attitude over this.
