Shadows of the Last War - Merric's thoughts (no spoilers)

I was normally running four hour sessions at Winter Fantasy, which generally took people about halfway through the adventure. As for level, various things have been tweaked in editing but my belief is that you should be at or close to 4th level by the end. And I don't think that the short...

Eberron? No way - I'm old school.

Thanks for the story, Destan - it brought a smile on a day that's had too few of them. Congratulations on Valus - I look forward to checking it out at GenCon!

Keith Baker (creator of Eberron) Q & A thread

Interesting idea, MM, and the mists could serve as the transition zone. Just to let folks know, I am going to be attending Comic Con and will be traveling for the next week, so I won't be answering any questions for a while. I will do my best to address any backlog when I get back. Until then...

    No, it's not possible.

Keith Baker (creator of Eberron) Q & A thread

Not at this time, I'm afraid. Hopefully we can cover it soon in a web article or sourcebook. It's hard for me to explain without being able to draw a picture. It's sort of like a hydrofoil. The air elemental is bound into a ring mounted at the rear of the vessel, like the fire elemental...

Keith Baker (creator of Eberron) Q & A thread

The limitation on healing is something that is still being debated by the design team. I have two thoughts on the matter: a) I believe that any creature that is native to the Mournland - whether it's a new species that has appeared since the Mourning, or a mutated being - should be immune to...

Left over Questions from Eberron Q&A

Unfortunately, many of these questions are really for Chris and Bill -- I can't tell you what plans for future releases are, because I don't know. But to answer what I can... I wouldn't expect to see a suppliment specifically on the MMORPG. However, a Xen'drik sourcebook should take the...

Shadow of the Last War Art Gallery!

What surprises me is that this doesn't include the full WAR cover piece (which you only get the center image of on the book itself).

The thing about the deathless elves is that they draw much of their power from the veneration of their descendants. It is also the case that Shae Mordai is built on a manifest zone linked to Irian. So, the Undying Court is very powerful, but the further you go from Aerenal, the more this power...

Keith Baker (creator of Eberron) Q & A thread

Dragonmarks are unpredictable. In rare cases the mark is present at birth. Generally, it first manifests in response to dangerous and stressful stimuli, though this varies based on the nature of the mark. Each house has a "Test of Siberys" designed to trigger a latent dragonmark. An heir of the...

Keith Baker (creator of Eberron) Q & A thread

I can see this as being something that could be built in at an appropriate cost. What's an appropriate cost, you say? Well, that I'd have to think about. But sure, I could see it. Small, mind you.

This is intentional. There aren't that many high level NPCs in Eberron, and this is a PrC that you should be able to find represented in the world.

Whoops! I missed questions. The same does go for leafweave and darkleaf armor, but not for bronzewood weapons. As others have said, the metal content of a weapon is not the factor: daggers, sickles, and scimitars are all metal weapons.

I agree with all of this. I might not say that there are NO NPC favored souls -- in some ways they're a good match for the Cults of the Dragon Below -- but certainly very rare.

I don't know. But when someone asks if you're a god, you say YES!

Just checking, Terramotus -- have you read the Religion in Eberron article on the Wotc website? This is ultimately up to the DM. My fundamental feeling is this: if the cleric can justify her actions within her faith, she's golden. So the cleric of Aureon could burn down a library if it's full...

    Artificers!

Wondrous location, actually... similar to the eldritch machine from page 273 of the Eberron book.

    Artificers!

Maybe yes, maybe no. You are exactly correct in your assumptions. However, the creation forges are not simply duplicates of Xen'drik artifacts; they are *inspired* by Xen'drik artifacts. Thus, Cannith has adapted the principles and combined them with their own unique gifts. If you're non-Cannith...

    Artificers!

Creating warforged requires the use of a creation forge, an eldritch machine/dragonshard focus use by House Cannith. All but two of the creation forges have been destroyed. In theory, using the forge would require the mark of Making, though the Lord of Blades appears to have bypassed that. As an...

    Wizards in Eberron?

Exactly. However, if you look at the revised Demographics article on the Wizards website, you'll see that there are actually more *low-level* wizards than you'd get using the standard DMG rules -- just very few high-level ones. The basic idea is: * Possessing levels in a PC class represents a...
