    D&D 5E (2014) Please Support Eberron!

This is certainly true in some places. One of the biggest examples is the Lycanthropic Purge, which was driven by the fact that in 3E D&D afflicted lycanthropes were capable of passing on the curse, making a "zombie apocalypse" scenario feasible and justifying the Purge. Before Eberron was even...

    D&D 5E (2014) Please Support Eberron!

Agreed on all counts. Many of my favorite regions (such as Droaam) aren't on the lightning rail. The use of arcane magic in society is an important part of the flavor of the Five Nation, but themes like the ongoing impact of the Last War and the feuding houses (and balance of power between...

Absolutely! Eberron has a very distinctive flavor, and it's definitely NOT what you want when you're looking for a classic high-fantasy flavor.

    D&D 5E (2014) Please Support Eberron!

Just to explain the philosophy behind Eberron in more depth, because hey, I like Eberron... What inspired Eberron was the fact that in 3E D&D - the core system when Eberron was developed - arcane magic behaves like a science. It is 100% reliable unless you get punched in the face while casting...

    D&D 5E (2014) Please Support Eberron!

Thanks again to everyone who's jumped in! This is most definitely a straw poll, and I'm not trying to suggest that "WotC will DEFINITELY support Eberron if X people jump in!" In part, it's a poll for MY benefit; I'm just personally curious how many people are out there who would like to see...

    D&D 5E (2014) Please Support Eberron!

In some ways, a 5E Eberron sourcebook would likely be aimed at new players who have never used any other system. Personally, I'm interested in the opportunity to explore other aspects of the setting in more detail. Much of the attention has been focused on the Five Nations, and I'd love to shine...

    D&D 5E (2014) Please Support Eberron!

Thanks everyone! And I'm certainly not trying to tell anyone what to do. For me this is simply an opportunity to actually a real idea of how many people really are interested in seeing new Eberron material. So I'm just asking you to vote with your dollar... just to give that dollar to charity...

For anyone who doesn't know me: Hi! I'm Keith Baker, the creator of the Eberron campaign setting. I've been doing what I can to push for new official support for the setting in the future, and in the meantime I've been providing unofficial support on my website. But the fact of the matter is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

I agree. I came up with the backstory of the Feyspires, and hey, one of my novels revolves around them. But I don't think they rely on the 4E cosmology. The Feyspires are part of Thelanis; as long as Thelanis exists, there's a place for them.

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

I agree and hope it can be avoided. With that said, frankly I just completely ignored it in 4E and kept playing with it as I always had... though I liked the spin on Baator I presented here, where I was at least able to pull it back from being on par with Eberron's original planes and present it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

And I hope you won't take it amiss that I quibbled with your interpretation of aberrant dragonmarks! The Oldlock telepathy is a good thing to call out as a model for Kalashtar; until the release of psionics, a reskinned Great Old One warlock with lots of enchantment effects might be the best way...

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

Just to nitpick (in our currently imaginary conversion)... if you stick with the foundations of the settings, there's more to an aberrant dragonmark than simply being on the wrong race. From one of my Q&As... As such, I'd be more inclined to use Magic Initiate (or some similar feat) to reflect...

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

It's certainly an approach that I'm considering, Pseudopsyche. It fits with the idea of a mark manifesting late in life due to a challenging situation. If I followed that approach, I'd probably look at a greater spectrum of Prophetic Ties - Dragonmarks are one way to reflect a connection to the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

PERSONALLY, I am hoping to have concrete Eberron support before that. However, no need to pull out the petitions yet. At the moment I think things are moving in the right direction; it's just something that WotC isn't going to have much time to think about until the DMG is done and 5E is fully...

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

Which is basically my point; a bonus to default AC is useful for classes with light or no armor proficiency but largely meaningless to a class with superior proficiencies; this would need to be addressed in some way. Because the race has an ability that is largely useless for a class commonly...

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

Armor class is the trickiest aspect for warforged. If what you're suggesting here is not an AC bonus, but simply a flat AC value if you're not wearing armor, there's the question of how this interacts with Unarmored Defense abilities. If it's essentially a +3 AC for Monks and Barbarians, that's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

I wasn't satisfied with that initial pass at Warforged, and in addition at that time dwarves also had a +1 to AC that has since been removed, raising the question of balance. It's a viable placeholder, but I'm still considering other possibilities.

    D&D 5E (2014) Running Eberron in 5E

While I believe that there will be official support for Eberron in the new edition, I don't know when that's going to happen or how extensive it's going to be... and I know there are people who want to start playing in Eberron now. I've thrown together a few of my thoughts and suggestions on my...
