D&D 5E (2014) Different Damage Die Sizes for Weaponry

Slightly vary the damage? Doesn't seem like enough of a differentiator to bother.

D&D General I think I might have figured out an idea for a new class.

Sounds like you should just multiclass.

D&D 5E (2014) Underwater Combat and Holding Breath - additional rule suggestions?

The underwater rules for 5e are utterly absurd.

D&D General Do players REALLY care about the game world?

Yes. If I don't care, the game is boring.

    D&D 5E (2014) 40% of 5e D&D players are 25 years old or younger

Is this even a surprising statistic? Seems totally obvious.

D&D 5E (2014) Split the adv die, idea for a mechanic, advise please.

No. That would only lead to increased damage output.

D&D 5E (2014) Why do guns do so much damage?

Nothing about D&D is realistic. Not encumbrance, not food requirements, not sleep or exhaustion. Not weapons or hit points or damage. And not guns either.

D&D 5E (2014) Why do guns do so much damage?

D&D 5E (2014) Would Allowing Multiple Reactions Break The Game?

The best way to do that is speed turns up, not give more options to do between turns.

D&D General What's the weirdest old edition material have you stuck in your 5e game lately?

I run Mystara all the time straight from the old books in my current 5e campaign with little to no "conversion prep" at all. So, in short, everything. Spells, monsters, war machine rules, etc.

D&D General How often do your sessions end mid-combat?

I always try to end the session with the question, "What are you doing next?" or "Where are you going next?" or similar. Never in the middle of a combat.

D&D General Do players even like the risk of death?

I've never asked my players how deadly they want their game. I show them that I run it that way early on. It's on them to stay alive.

    D&D 5E (2014) Deleting Bonus Actions

People are going to fret over their "action economy" no matter what you call the choices. Bonus action, free action, whatever, it doesn't matter. Some players just be like that. To really get rid of it, just allow one thing. One and only one damn thing on your turn. No bonus action, no free...
