    D&D 5E (2014) Tasha’s cauldron character thread

I don't mind it on principal, but I would like to see more Short Rest refreshing abilities if Short Rests are supposed to be an important balancing point for the 6-8 encounter (including skill challenge) day. I think there's a lot of quiet dissonance with Short Rests being an entire hour, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tasha’s cauldron character thread

I'm actually a little stunned by how many things have been weakened. Some of those things certainly needed to be pulled back in a little bit, like the Rune Knight being able to give +Int to AC every turn. But in many places they went too far in the other direction, like the (once again) Rune...

    D&D General Single class party?

I've done it, and it works fine. Like any group, the success and fun lies in the players respecting each other (even with humorous shenanigans). That said, some classes are worse at it than others. Still do-able, just potentially less interesting on a mechanical level.

D&D 5E (2014) Odd things in the rules that bug you?

You can't improve life skills without getting better at combat or finding magic items. Want to blacksmith? You need to level to improve your proficiency, feats, or ASI. You can't just blacksmith and get better.

Dragonlance [Dragonlance/Faerun] Anyone here met any Cataclysm/Wall of the Faithless defenders?

It's a Candlekeep thing. Mystryl, Mystra, and Midnight are sometimes just called Mystra with a descriptor like "first" or "middle" or "third" to separate them. Mostly for newer posters who might have no idea who Mystryl or Midnight are (by name, anyway).

Some of them are literally greek gods. I'm looking at you, Tyche, Poseidon, Hephaestus, and Priapus. Then you have the whole bucket of Norse, and cherry picks from a variety of other pantheons. Tyche and Tyr being the two biggest and most popular intruder deities in the Realms.

Dragonlance [Dragonlance/Faerun] Anyone here met any Cataclysm/Wall of the Faithless defenders?

It doesn't seem too hard to remove. Kelemvor certainly did it. I'm honestly not even sure why Kelemvor brought it back. He was told to remove the Mirror Wall, but that doesn't mean he needed to bring the moldy oblivion version back. He could have gone back to the Jergal method and just let them...

Dragonlance [Dragonlance/Faerun] Anyone here met any Cataclysm/Wall of the Faithless defenders?

My point is that the gods are finite and fallible. They are incapable of addressing all evils all of the time. It's literally not something they could do even if they wanted to. Some gods have certainly tried and made a good show of it, like Tyr, but even he ended up dead for his trouble and had...

Dragonlance [Dragonlance/Faerun] Anyone here met any Cataclysm/Wall of the Faithless defenders?

The gods of FR don't explicitly embody anything. They have portfolios they have to maintain, political expectations that could get them fired if they don't do their job, and supernatural influences on their thought process that impact how they see the world (like filters), but they are not...

Dragonlance [Dragonlance/Faerun] Anyone here met any Cataclysm/Wall of the Faithless defenders?

I'm complicit in utter evil quite frequently. I still make an effort to do good deeds on the regular. Does it balance out? Probably not, but that's a question for millennia of philosophers. :geek:

True egregious evil is maintaining a "balance" where evil must exist in sufficient quantity to entertain the powers above AO. There is certainly some leeway, but you cannot better the world too much or higher powers will smack you down. :ROFLMAO:

OSR How Do You Award XP?

Milestone. That's not a helpful answer in your situation, but I have too many unpleasant memories of XP being divided based on who kills what and how much treasure you find. It's practically low-end PTSD these days.

Dragonlance [Dragonlance/Faerun] Anyone here met any Cataclysm/Wall of the Faithless defenders?

Sadly, we don't know enough about the true purpose of the wall to make a real judgement. Since the gods only have a finite amount of good deeds before a Tribunal makes them stop, it might not be worth it to fix. How a cleric judges that, if they even know the truth, is going to be a very...

Dragonlance [Dragonlance/Faerun] Anyone here met any Cataclysm/Wall of the Faithless defenders?

I consider the Wall to be an intentional flaw. A plot point just waiting for the players (high level ones, presumably) to take action and change the status quo. The players ARE the ones the gods of good choose to finally do something about the wall. A story full of action, moral discussion, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) What are Possible Ancestors/Sources for a Shadow Sorcerer Bloodline?

Thultanthar ("Shade" in the Loross language), also known as the Shade Enclave and the City of Shade, was a Netherese flying city situated in the middle of the Anauroch desert.
