    D&D 5E (2024) You're not planning on getting 2024 D&D? Why is that?

Same here, it had little to no impact on my groups buying/playing DnD. 5.5 had more of an impact since I'm now largely not buying any more of their books.

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

2e at least allowed different cleric alignments from the deity, in many cases at least. It was still a curated list of alignments though, such as the priests of Bast who were allowed to be any non-evil.

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

I don't think there's really a number since I don't think X number of PCs should die, just that in DnD, death should be on the table (for my games at least). As a DM I'm not out there trying to kill my player's characters, I'm there to challenge them and if death happens, then it happens but it...

D&D General Folks Who Came Back With 5E: Did You Stay with 5E?

Yes and no, I've been playing OSE as well as 5e and I'd love to get a 2e game running. When playing I'll typically work with whichever system people like running and with another group, if I run a game they'll probably expect 5e so will run that (I had an attempt at savage worlds star trek but...

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

You and me both, I normally just start skipping posters who calim such and such are X arguments, just not worth reading their posts.

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

From memory, the 3e god book had an example of a montheistic deity who encompassed all of the domains. I can't remember if that meant that there were different cults dedicated to her or not which focused on specific aspects.

D&D General Changing subclasses mid-campaign (or even classes)

I allow it if people want to swap subclasses they can, and far less organically than the aituation in the OP. I don't require campaign developments to aid in swapping subclasses but I'm all for using campaign developments to explain it. For classes, we typically just reture the current PC and...

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

I disagree, too me they're just another greater god who managed to make a play for dominance and succeed. Their faith has expanded beyond cultural borders but they're still "only" on the same level as a greater god heading a pantheon.

AD&D 1E Multi class issue for original D&D to 2nd ed question.

You'll need to quote it or at least provide the heading as well, I currently only have access to the green cover books so I'm not sure if they're all in the same order. I couldn't find any optional rule restricting a high elf woman's dexterity to 17 max.

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

I typically don't use overdeities in my games, unless I'm running FR in which case Ao is already established. I'm contemplating a Mediterranean mythic age setting, if Yahweh appears (currently it isn't a faith in the setting) he'll be just like the other gods, no more or less powerful. But then...

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

I don't think Imhotep usurped anyone, he was the creator (maybe) of the pyramid, an architect that became deified.

AD&D 1E Multi class issue for original D&D to 2nd ed question.

2e never had gender based ability score differences, that was 1e only.

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

Rather than stats, I like to create power levels, a rough scale of where the movers and shakers of the cosmos are in relation to each other. In order of most power I have: True Gods, Immortals from the upper planes who harnessed the corners stones of reality. Demi-Powers. Elder dragons...

AD&D 1E Multi class issue for original D&D to 2nd ed question.

You can ignore the level limits and import them as is and retain the level then use the slow levelling optional rule for demi-humans slowing the rate of advancement once they've been ported over.

    D&D 5E (2024) What happens when a multiclass character loses a prerequisite?

That rings a bell, I think I'd be annoyed if I had to become a fighter after being a paladin or ranger for a few levels just because I'd lost some stats.

    D&D 5E (2024) What happens when a multiclass character loses a prerequisite?

Yeah, and there is much to trawl through if you wanted to find something in them. I think they compared class ability requirements to race requirements, in much the same way a dwarf that loses constitution below the race minimum is still a dwarf, a class that drops below the requirements...

    D&D 5E (2024) What happens when a multiclass character loses a prerequisite?

You'd have to trawl through dragon magazine sage advice, no idea which issue.

    D&D 5E (2024) What happens when a multiclass character loses a prerequisite?

Nothing happens, they're still able to take levels since they've already started taking the class. There's been similar questions asked since back in ADnD times, what happens if a paladin loses a point of Charisma, do they staty a paladin? The answer was yes since that 17 was just what was...

D&D General The purpose of deity stats in D&D.

Mine has largely as well, though I never really bothered with the worshippers requirement. Recently though, I've thought about making every god a demigod and what elevates them to the higher levels is the power of worshippers. Didn't really do anything with that though.

@Voadam beat me to it but yeah, that book that nobody seems to read has some good stuff in it.
