D&D 5E (2024) What medievalesque skill name do you prefer, for machinery, architecture, math, physics?

My world calls features like this Teknology. There are specialties like clockwerks and mechaniks. It's all Tek

D&D 5E (2024) Potential other "rules expansion" books

All of James Wyatt's MtG work could get a polish and exist in this fashion. They're half done already.

Unearthed Arcana UA Phantom Rogue still seems BORING and feels OUTDATED in 5e2024. It's basically a vanilla Rogue before 9.

Rogue and Bard are too hard to get flavor into view subclass for this same reason.

Dungeons & Dragons Announces Horror Subclasses Unearthed Arcana

A June test would get this into the October book without any trouble. Also, they may feel they aren't making enough changes to these that they need external feedback. They still have a stable of internal testers.

    D&D 5E (2024) Variant Human idea

I'll likely call it Fast Learner, leaning into lore that Humans are the types that pursue multiple paths to adventure at the same time, rather than the other species that lean into being great at one thing

    D&D 5E (2024) Variant Human idea

I've been playing with the idea that a Human should be able to take two Backgrounds. That would be their feature, which in 2024 means they get two Origin Feats (already the rule), two skills (one more than the standard Human) and a tool (one more than standard). Plus the added story, which...

D&D 5E (2024) Creative uses of Thaumaturgy, Druidcraft and Elementalism?

Another reason these don't get used as much is the perception that they take up a cantrip slot for a spell with more use. Having each caster have a specific lifestyle cantrip is a better solution. A musician or entertainer with Thaumaturgy to amplify their voice makes a ton of sense, but at the...

D&D 5E (2024) Creative uses of Thaumaturgy, Druidcraft and Elementalism?

Cutting them down to Bonus Action in most campaigns makes sense. Allowing them as a Reaction would help amplify their use in high, persistent magic settings.

D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

The total brand value they suggest could be a billion. That would include video games, tv, movies, shirts, etc. That's also a revenue goal not a profit goal

D&D 5E (2024) What upcoming WotC D&D product are you excited about?

I'm interested in the Eberron book because it will show us how far they are willing to push away from typical D&D in the current era.

What Does the RPG Hobby Need Now?

If it is an organized game night it is a space specifically designed for gamers. That's like saying the convention center hosts PAX so PAX is public gaming

What Does the RPG Hobby Need Now?

That's what I'm saying. There are dedicated GAMING spaces. Gamers use those. As the OP asked, what I think the RPG hobby needs is to pull out of the spaces they created and to play where non-geeks/nerds/gamers are. I don't know how to be more clear. Playing at conventions doesn't grow the...

What Does the RPG Hobby Need Now?

I live 3.4 miles from WotC HQ. Public play is not common here, in Renton, where there are more professional designers than any other city of over 100,000 people. Spin off companies are based here and the neighboring cities. They also don't play in public.
