D&D 5E (2024) Building A Mage Hunter Squad of Bad Guys

If you have Strixhaven, look into the Oriq and Mage Hunter (it's a monstrosity) An Eldritch Knight hasn't been mentioned yet, but building one around Shield, Dispel Magic and Counterspell seems vital. I'd like a Clockwork Sorc, as Restore Balance and Bastion of Law (lev 6) can limit magic's...

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

I love that the Arcane Archer expanded to include crossbows, firearms and even slings. But why ignore tales about thrown weapon specialists still?

    D&D General D&D Variants Forum

Why would I empower my players to make the best choices for their character they want to play? Because I like playing with them.

    D&D General D&D Variants Forum

A discussion about different approaches to nature & nurture throughout the wider 5e and other D&D games would belong where? Saying it's only for variants ignores that I can use a ToV Halfling and a 2024 Halfling and Level Up Halfling and a 2014 Halfling all at the same table

    D&D General Zero-Prep D&D Game?

My next campaign is set in a rough & tumble frontier land of raw elemental power (lot of geysers, hot springs, tornadoes, etc). But it's also intended to be a backup to the main campaign. We may just get 30 minutes or less of warning for a player group of 1-3 people. Here's more about the...

Monty of Dungeon Dudes infuriated at publishers writing own licenses instead of CC – WOTC most permissive

That's not true of all CC licenses. One could choose to use the CC SA and it would be viral and open. Boutique licenses are not both viral and open. And in Darrington's case it is revocable, not viral and not open

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

Additionally, Dragon Heist doing the play on words with dragon=money was too cute by half.

Monty of Dungeon Dudes infuriated at publishers writing own licenses instead of CC – WOTC most permissive

A license is more close when you use it and it cannot be ported to other licenses. It is more open when you use it and it can be used in other licenses. Open does not equal viral. ORC is a one way door. Creative Commons is not.

Monty of Dungeon Dudes infuriated at publishers writing own licenses instead of CC – WOTC most permissive

The people declaring "everything should be open" did not do that with their own material built off of more open licenses There's a certain level in deceit when a proponent of open licenses uses a more closed license while building off of open ones that have been tested in court

Monty of Dungeon Dudes infuriated at publishers writing own licenses instead of CC – WOTC most permissive

It's notable that the two largest publishers that use the ORC took someone else's design and then locked it away in the ORC, rather than continuing it in the license it was published under

    D&D General Zero-Prep D&D Game?

D&D 5E (2024) Power sources to disambiguate the 5e spellcaster classes

Can you speak more as to how the 2024 Bard is "clearly psionic" considering there's no mention of that in the books?

    D&D General Zero-Prep D&D Game?

Leaning into @M.T. Black definition, I think it's easier to do that form of zero prep, for me, within the world I've already created, continuing a campaign. It would be a combination of points 1 and 2. As I have random encounter tables and notecard NPCs built for my world I could have PCs go...
