Half-Elf (Eladrin) Variant as per SCAG?

Yes of course. The original humans that made the deal might not think so, but the tiefling born in human society would definitely think so. I mean look at racism in America today, imagine what it would be like if people were having "devil children." A huge percentage of tiefling are killed at...

Half-Elf (Eladrin) Variant as per SCAG?

Tiefling isn't a half race. They're cursed humans and don't have another race to steal abilities from. I was just talking to my friend about this, the only races that'll actually be affected would be half-elves and half-orcs. I really don't have a problem with either of the races themselves...

Half-Elf (Eladrin) Variant as per SCAG?

Ok in your case, playing a simple half elf and saying you're half Eladrin should suffice, but the point of the thread was to play a half elf variant and give them eladrin powers, which I'm against. I would expect to see less half eladrin than half drow, since well the Eladrin live in n the...

Half-Elf (Eladrin) Variant as per SCAG?

I don't follow. How does making half elves superior to full elves create more diversity? If anything it makes me less likely to play an elf if I can choose a half elf and able to couple the superior stat bonuses as well as pick and choose which elf abilities I want to take. Like I said...

Opinion * I hate that spell check changes my words

Half-Elf (Eladrin) Variant as per SCAG?

I just don't like the variant half elf idea of the Blade Effect. All of the benefits with none of the weaknesses. I also like the lore of the game so I try and stay within that. When I give my option, I never say "you can't do this or that" I always say "that's not what I would do"

Half-Elf (Eladrin) Variant as per SCAG?

No, I don't think half eladrin would even exist story wise. If the High Elves, the most arrogant race in the prime material plane think their arrogant, what makes you think humans even have a chance with them. Second, half elves should never have trance. Trance should strictly be an elf...

    Why does he have trance?

Half-Elf (Eladrin) Variant as per SCAG?

I definitely wouldn't give them that. That's the only ability they have, and pretty much the only reason to play an eladrin. Giving it to a half elf just seems wrong.

Half-Elf (Eladrin) Variant as per SCAG?

I probably wouldn't do it, but if you choose to, I would limit it to only having 1 season. Whichever they were born into is what they have, no changing.

Elminster's Guide to Deities and Avatars

I haven't played 3rd, so I won't speak on it, but 1st edition's stats for gods were weak. 2nd edition had stats for avatars only, and same with 5th right now. No stats are for the gods themselves, only their avatars. Demonlords are not gods. Arch Devils are not gods (except Asmodeous), the...

Elminster's Guide to Deities and Avatars

This is where I think you're wrong. A God is unwinnable fight by any standard, since a mortal can never slay one which is why they never give Gods stats, or primordials for that matter. Avatars are merely a part of a God's essence and can be killed. The exception of course are Demigods who...

Elminster's Guide to Deities and Avatars

This is a perfect example of why high level D&D is in the state it's in. It's easy to make a monster too weak, as it is to make a completely broken monster. The difficult thing is to make a creature that's challenging and fair. I think a lot of monsters have good abilities, but what they...

Elminster's Guide to Deities and Avatars

It's more than just disadvantage. You have to choose the square you think the creature is in, if he is not there (aka he was smart enough to move) you automatically miss. You can't cast spells because you can't target anything. Also, you give up advantage to all of his attacks. I'm not sure...

Elminster's Guide to Deities and Avatars

I think you're not understanding the mechanics of how this works. At a DC 27, the only characters who has a chance of passing are fighters and paladins. Even then at level 20, they have a 75% chance at failure. Even if you house rule and say a natural 20 is an automatic success, that's only...

Elminster's Guide to Deities and Avatars

That's actually pretty scary. I'd probably not give the blind condition on the pass though. At a DC 27, it's not going to be possible for most characters to even make. I like it though

Elminster's Guide to Deities and Avatars

He does no real damage. He has no real threatening abilities. You're saying this guy is supposed to be able to take on a team of level 20s that's going to average about 50-100 damage per player per round and has nothing that comes remotely close to that kind of damage. My level 17 warlock...

I think his abilities are very weak. Why would he need a recharge ability to calm the seas? I don't see him being much of a threat to levl 17 characters, let alone level 20
