Thoughts on Eldritch Knight Polearm Build

So the misconception with green flame blade and booming blade is that people think you're casting the spell on the enemy. You are actually casting it on your weapon. The reach of the spell should say melee weapon. The is no somatic component, only verbal and material components, and the...

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

I avoided pact of the chain for one reason. It sucks. Sure you can get an imp or quasit familiar that can transform into a raven, bit you can get the same with the normal find familiar spell later in your adventure, whether you run across one in your gaming, or you cast a spell to summon one...

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

What is your end goal for your character? It seems like a bad idea to multiclass at 4th level. If the main reason is to have a pet raven, I'm guessing because you want to have a pact with the Raven Queen, why not just go ask to go with the Raven Queen pact warlock? It's actually a better Pact...

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

I'm not frustrated. Like I said. People try and find loopholes to cheat, especially on the forums. I didn't call you a cheater, I just expressed that it was overpowered and listed the reasons. You rebutted that it's a level one spell, and I reminded you that that's not how warlock casting...

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

You're talking about combining a spell with an ability. At level 3, all spells cast from your warlock slots are 2nd lvl. Which means from harvest will give you back 4hp or 6hp (if the spell is from the Necromancy school), and it only goes up. The only way you would be able to cast any spell at...

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

This is the reason Hexblade curse only effects 1 target, and when you get the level 14 ability, and can move it from target to target, you don't heal.

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

It's overpowered because can move from target to target. When you're casting it at 5th level, and you're getting 10hp per kill, that's way too powerful.

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

I know how Grim Harvest works. With only 2 levels of wizard, you will have 3 1st level long rest spell slots. No it won't be tricky as to whether or not the Hex damage will actually kill a creature. The solution is to roll the damage separately. You can choose of you want the damage to...

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

Grim Harvest isn't limited to necromantic spells, but works better with them. A fireball on a group of kobolds works better than finger of death to 1 target.

There's shadow blade, but that's an illusion

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

As a warlock with wizard levels, Grim Harvest doesn't work as well as a straight wizard, or a wizard with warlock levels. Simply because you only get 2 spells per fight until level 11, and they really are better spent smiting or defensive spells like Armor of Agythis if you're going with a...

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

Actually no, Hex doesn't work. The spell has to be, level 1 or higher, and it has to,kill the opponent. Hex doesn't kill anyone since it only amplifies damage, not do direct damage. The opponent would die from your melee attack, not from the spell.

    Vampiring with necromancy, warlocking

You would only get the 1d6 from hex, the rest of the damage don't count.

Would an Ancient Green Dragon consider adopting an orphaned copper wyrmling?

I was going to say the same thing about the reptiles bit didn't want to make long posts. I think in the reverse order, an ancient copper would probably kill the green for the same reasons. One less evil dragon in the world. Good dragons know they can't redeem evil dragons so leaving the...

Would an Ancient Green Dragon consider adopting an orphaned copper wyrmling?

The green will kill the copper. Even in the most cooperative circumstances, he will see the dragon as a future threat and will take it out before it ever gets strong enough to challenge it. Heck a green dragon would most likely kill a when king green if it's not its child.

What are the ability *scores* used for in 5e?

FACTS. Me mostly playing and running AL. I can cosign on this. In AL they only allow the standard array, or the point buy system. There is no rolling stats. I like it, because it's the most fair system, and you never have to question anyone's stats.

Mike Mearls tweet: Is the Known World of Mystara coming to 5e? (What's Cool About Mystara?)

I would like to see a campaign setting also. But it seems like they are intent on not doing whole settings.

What are the ability *scores* used for in 5e?

There are very few things that you use your actual ability score for, and most of them is your strength score. Shadows drain points of STR. When it gets to 0, you die and become a shadow. You can carry weight = to 15x your STR. With a running start, you jump a # of feet = to your STR...
