    AD&D 1E A Guide to 1e AD&D Monsters to Challenge a Party of 13th level and Higher

MM says it will after 1-3 turns, provided you don't burn them off with a torch or have cure disease cast on you. Trying to burn them off (1d6 damage per worm) could be an equal deadly. Better hope you have a Cleric in the campaign

Rules Cyclopedia of Basic D&D now in POD

I believe that BX might mean Basic and expert editions? Bas was introductory and was meant for play at very low levels. Expert was for experienced players. The BECMI, I think may have revised rules, but I know it was developed by Frank Metzner. This included the Basic and Experts (BE) and...

Help for someone clueless about D&D before AD&D 1st Edition?

It's probably worth mentioning that Wrath of the Immortals was released right after Rules Cyclopedia. It replaced the rules for Immortal play and was more player friendly. It gave guidelines on how to create and play Immortals either as PC's or NPCs.

    AD&D 1E A Guide to 1e AD&D Monsters to Challenge a Party of 13th level and Higher

Great thread. I just want to add my two or three cents in here. All of the named monsters (Asmodeus, Orcus, etc.) are listed by HP only, that means at best they can only attack as a 16 HD monster (per the chart), that being said Deities and Demigods expressively states that in their own...

    Asmodeus vs Demogorgon

Okay that is what you figured in xp, but I was asking if anyone figured out what their HD/level were. Aside from "lesser god" as stated in the DDG. BTW they all have only material forms. Avatars didn't come in to use until the 2nd edt of AD&D, and even then the Demon Lords and Arch Devils...

    Asmodeus vs Demogorgon

Was it ever stated in either the MM or DDG what level/HD either ruler were? I thought that the MM stated that they were 10th level?

    Making Hit Points Work

I know that this is somewhat a dated reply, but...I think that the point that is missing here is that according to AD&D 1st edt (and possibly D&D box sets), hit points are more than just the amount of damage you can physically absorb it also has to do with "luck", "divine intervention", skill...

    Revisiting the Elemasters

I think that there is some confusion about the structure and organization in Frank's Immortals Set, so let me see if I find out where the confusion begins: 1) The Immortal Hierarch is similar to the Deity Rank system. Ie Eternals and Hierarchs are equivalent to greater gods, and a Full...

    Revisiting the Elemasters

I sent a PM to Shade, but I haven't got a response that I am aware of? In my opinion: Immortals and Deities should not be converted between the two game systems (ie D&D vs AD&D1ed, 2ed, 3rd etc.). Aaron made that request in the RC, and I see why.

    Revisiting the Elemasters

Actually here is the excerpt: Description: The elemasters are high-ranking aides who directly serve the Full Hierarchs of the Spheres. They (The Elemasters) represent and rule all of the elementals of the multiverse. There are no gods in Mystara. The difference between a Full Hierarch and...

    Revisiting the Elemasters

I am sorry to say that you indeed remembered incorrectly. Elemasters were given lowest Hierarch rank in Frank's set. You guys had posted their stats previously, I will do so again: Elemaster Sphere: Element equivalent Status: Hierarch 2 Power Points: 12,000 Anti-Magic: 90% Armor Class: -18...

    Revisiting the Elemasters

I see. Just curious why did you guys decide such a low ranking when the Elemasters are Hierarchs? They should be At least Divine 16 or 17. Eternals and Hierarchs are all equivalent to Greater Gods. Full Hierarchs should always be Divine 20. No, that is not what it says in Franks DM Guide for...

    Revisiting the Elemasters

Greetings! Hi guys I often visit the Wizards.com boards and other Mystara boards and found yours after doing a search on Elemasters. I had brought up a question about why Aaron didn't include them in the WoTI. Anyway I know that I am new but I had a chance to really look over the hard work...
