Pathfinder 2E The starknife hurts my brain

What's funny to me is the lack of just a knife in the Player Core. The only simple slashing weapon is a sickle! Also the sai is a dagger instead of a bludgeon.

D&D General No More Baldur's Gate From Larion: Team Is 'Elated'

My hope is that they move on to make a Pathfinder game, though a Critical Role game would also be hilarious.

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

The idea of using the rules is to make your character and the NPCs/monsters part of the equation, rather than just the player and the DM. The player comes up with the lie, the rules determine of the character stammers trying to say it. The player decides to roar, the rules determine which...

Pathfinder 2E The starknife hurts my brain

Humans have come up with much stranger weapons, like the urumi.

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

That's my assumption. Things like age, responsibilities, or how long things take can be a factor. Not to mention where and how long you play. Organized gaming tends to struggle with extended RP, especially.

D&D General what environments feel lacking in nice people?

Inner Planes tend to be unfairly characterized as inherently vicious. A cozy hearth fire is also fire, thank you.

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

Have you ever asked them why? I was literally singing at the table in 4E and had lots of roleplaying in the game I ran so I'm wondering what makes the difference.

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

Did the way you engaged them change at all?

D&D General Hooks for Interplanar Piracy

My last campaign starred a dracolich ship with a geased crew who collected more crew so they could track down their granddaughter and daughter to turn them into a new heart and body respectfully in order to return to life and be free of being a ship.

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

Nothing about letting the dice determine the outcome ever stopped me from writing a six line metal song and singing at the table with my 10 Charisma. The dice just ensured that despite everyone at the table laughing that the outcome wasn't biased by how Extra I am. The mechanics ensured that the...

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

D&D doesn't reward intentionally failing at skill interactions. You'd need to introduce a mechanism that lets conforming to your dump stats lead to progress rather than lead to failure, and then the question becomes how is that actually a penalty anymore.

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

This would turn any game I play into the Incenjucar Show. It's hard enough not dominating every conversation during meetings at work, but as an experienced rapid-fire improv DM with an aggressively bold personality a social game without rolls would just be me struggling to not put on a five hour...

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

I don't really want player skill to be expected like this. I like roleplaying games as an equalizer. I want the shy, socially inept college kid to have the same success as the fifty year old dramatist at the same table.

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

I feel player performance should be a fun extra. I don't want my real life advantages to overshadow someone who lacks those advantages. It's like if I was able to use my boxing training as a way to win PC duels. There are avenues for drama kids and improv experts to compete, but I don't enjoy...

D&D General Social Pillar Mechanics: Where do you stand?

I will always advocate for systems over player skill. I should never be able to make Int and Cha dump stats and then get to use my decades of D&D experience and social development to make up for them.

D&D General The core monster lineup across all editions

They put the bow in the bow-chicka-bow-wow. Just like Legolas.

D&D 5E (2014) Should DnDBeyond include an Encounter Simulator?

Numbers are very handy. 5E's relative simplicity helps a lot here. You'll never capture the nuance of tactical play but you can at least get a good idea of whether tactical play is needed

Starfinder How would Golarion's return affect Starfinder?

And then Rovagug pulls his bits back together and starts eating everything else.

D&D 5E (2014) What new content do you like most?

Classes, feats, and species. The big things that change how you play the game and have the broadest cross-applicability.

D&D General please tell me about the old psionic classes?

In 2E, I really enjoyed how psionics had kind of a rock/paper/scissors relationship with martial and magical beings. A lot of psionic creatures would straight up eat spells, but generally still crumpled against steel.
