Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Fighter: Samurai, Sharpshooter, Arcane Archer & Knight

By the same token, you could build a perfectly fine thief or assassin without using a single level of Rogue as well, as cbwjm was saying. Hunters without using Ranger, too. You can be any background without actually using that background, too. You're not an urchin, you're a tour guide...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Fighter: Samurai, Sharpshooter, Arcane Archer & Knight

Y'all that don't like the subclasses because "they should be backgrounds:" what are your feelings on the Rogue subclasses Thief and Assassin? Those were in the PHB and actually are both the same background (criminal). Do they get a pass?

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E: The Best and the Worst

Dislike the lack of mechanical distinction between weapons. Like the ease of use present in everything else.

D&D 5E (2014) A mounted Ranger can use his natural explorer ability?

I'm just commenting on the RAW as I see them. If you want to houserule something else, that's your right, although I don't like the idea of Rogues' cunning action working for mounts especially, because why should they have the fastest mounts? It's very unroguish, IMO.

D&D 5E (2014) A mounted Ranger can use his natural explorer ability?

Well, what if, for example, you were grappled? Your speed is 0, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can't use the Dash action, just that you wouldn't gain any benefit from doing so. It's kind of the same thing as being mounted.

D&D 5E (2014) A mounted Ranger can use his natural explorer ability?

I don't think any of those work the way I assume some posters expect them to. Those are the rules for controlling a mount. Read them closely: the mount is still an independent creature in every sense except that it acts on your initiative and it does what you want it to. It still has its own...

    D&D 5E (2014) You find a magical _____, it does _____

These trousers are the most garish garment, guaranteed. Once per day, you may lift the enchantment upon them, revealing their true gaudy glory to the world. All creatures (including yourself) that gaze upon the now painfully plaid pair of pants must succeed a Charisma saving throw or take...

Throw and Stab, a feat for stabbers and throwers. (Feedback me)

So sort of like a psuedo-Hordebreaker? I hadn't thought about that, but it's a good idea. I worry though that it might end up a little too similar to Crossbow Expert, and I kind of want the player to alternate often, although may not every other attack. I had considered trying a small...

Throw and Stab, a feat for stabbers and throwers. (Feedback me)

My favorite part about thrown melee weapons is their versatility. Unfortunately, there are feats that strengthen thrown weapons as melee weapons, and there are feats that strengthen thrown weapons as ranged weapons, but there are no options that strengthen them in both regards, nor any that...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Grappler's Manual (2.0) - Grappling in 5th Edition

Pinning is one thing, dragging things around is another matter entirely. The only way I could possibly see the elk "drag" something that isn't completely tangled up in its antlers is to basically bull-rush it, in which case you'd be doing massive amounts of damage to yourself as well. You've...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Grappler's Manual (2.0) - Grappling in 5th Edition

Seems to me like that method of grappling would require the target have antlers as well, but hey, I was recently told that humanoids can maintain grappling without using their hands so what do i know.

D&D 5E (2014) Tweak Instant Cure spells to fix whack-a-mole

I'm not so sure. Even if you fought the exact same group of enemies at several points in time, they could very well have different sets of priorities every time that leads them to make different decisions. I don't think "the logical course of action" actually exists (in fiction or nonfiction)...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Grappler's Manual (2.0) - Grappling in 5th Edition

Unless, of course, you want to do it to something huge, which is the biggest draw of the spell. And like I said earlier, you can't just assume potions of growth will be able to solve that problem.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Grappler's Manual (2.0) - Grappling in 5th Edition

Enhance Ability trades the increased damage and loosened restrictions of Enlarge for a longer duration. You just happen to prefer duration over the added benefits of Enlarge. They both have the same rating. Way I see it, Enlarge just barely pulls ahead because it has a unique effect if you...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best Gish

It doesn't really protect you from bad rolls, hits and crits so much as remove the opportunity of them happening since you have to replace the roll before it's made. It's the price you pay for knowing the outcome beforehand.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dwarven Battlerager Build

That's really just not true, but I don't know enough about math to tell anyone exactly why without simplifying the whole affair. Instead of Superiority dice, let's say we have a bunch of apples, and all the apples have a 50% chance of being rotten. One person A has only one apple, a second...
