Mistwell....how do you figure that WOTC is publishing the equivalent of 16 adventures?

Different tastes I guess. I thought the JJ Abrams movies were garbage and not deserving of the name Star Trek.

They are making movies but it looked to me like interest spiked with the 1st film and fizzled with the 2nd. I don't think there were permanent gains in terms of new fans or brigning old fans back. There are lots of Star Trek fans, generations of them, out there....there's just not anything...

I think part of the reason we haven't seen a new RPG is that Star Trek interest is not real high right now. There isn't anything new going on Trek wise aside from Star Trek online.

From the responses so far, it looks like my points didn't really resonate with very many people. Just some odd thoughts anyway and I was interested to see if anyone else had thought similarly. Thanks everyone that did respond. It's always interesting reading what others think.

I didn't mean to say that they were written for AL exclusively. I do think there are elements (factions for example) that seem to be included for organized play purposes. The two adventures utilize the factions different ways and to a different degrees but they both include them.

What I have heard and this is only from fans and not anyone at corporate is that CBS/Viacom doesn't think that licensing a RPG is worth the hassle and also don't think it will make money.

What do the comic fans think of the new Secret Wars event thus far?

Do you guys think that WOTC's use of their AP hardbacks in the triple roles of multi-media tie-in, Adventure League material and traditional RPG product might be holding back their adventures from being better? I'm not meaning this as a slam against WOTC, merely that it occurs to me that there...

You know what it may be is that the Underdark "friendlies" you encounter in the adventure and games will be "dark whimsy" themed to underline how the Underdark is different. That seems one way of the adventure have dark whimsy and ultimate evil in one package.

I don't mind WOTC focusing on the Realms. My thing is that shouldn't be the only thing they are doing. It shouldn't monopolize all rpg products, as well as organized play. And if they are going to focus on the realms they should utilize the Realms and UPDATE.

I like the "dark whimsy" of some of this art. I don't see how this intersects with the art on the module cover...very different tone. I guess we wait and see how it turns out in the hardback.

They don't HAVE to set the adventure paths in the Realms and they certainly don't have to set them all in the same region.

Thanks for doing these Merric! This is the kind of thing that WOTC should really be doing themselves....

Does it bother anyone else that their hardback adventures so far are all retreads of old modules? Where's the creativity and originality?

After reading Marty's review I am much less excited. It sounds like I was expecting too much from this. If its little more than advertising, that's a massive missed opportunity.

Has WOTC posted Part 3 of the Princes of the Apocalypse live stream from twitch? I have not seen it on youtube or elsewhere online yet. Anyone else?

I like the content. I don't really care for the fact that its rehashed from a presentation. That sort of thing gives the wrong impression.
