    D&D 5E (2014) Uncanny Dodge vs FIREBALL

I think your definition of "massive issue", and my definition, are very different.

15 Roleplaying Game Predictions for 2015

I think this prediction is spot on as far as messageboards, facebook, twitter, and other comment-driven media are concerned. However, I'm willing to bet that youtube and twitch based communities will show an opposite trend, at least for the time being, with communities consolidating and growing...

D&D 5E (2014) Any News On The 5e Video Game Front?

D&D 5E was pretty clearly designed around the idea that TTRPGs do certain things better than CRPGs, and vice versa. Given that, I'm not sure it'd be an amazing starting point for a video game.

    D&D 5E (2014) [5e +] So what are you currently doing with 5e

Running: A Scourge of the Sword Coast campaign that's transitioning into a waterdeep regional sandbox game. Playing: Half orc wizard who scoots around on her broomstick.

    D&D 5E (2014) Undead in 5th Edition

If you liked the older monster designs better, nothing prevents you from just using those designs and converting them to 5E math using the charts in the DMG. (I know that's what I do a lot of the time!)

    D&D 5E (2014) BREAKING 5th Edition!

The problem is you're not thinking big enough--not putting enough on the line.

What Happens If CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR Doesn't Fund?

That's my point: the full context limits the scope of the claim to people who are considering backing, but are reluctant to put money down because of doubts about whether the kickstarter will fund.

What Happens If CODENAME: MORNINGSTAR Doesn't Fund?

In fairness, that quote mainly sounds bad when taken out of context in the pull quotes. "Kickstarter collects pledges only if the funding is successful. It's a no risk proposition - at worst, you will show your support. Not pledging is telling the industry that you are happy with the status quo"...

    D&D 5E (2014) On Dungeon Design

Player-drawn mapping is a fairly specific play style that only really sings when combined with a certain dungeon design philosophy and specific D&D rulesets. Just like XP for gold, it ain't for everybody. Anyway, it sounds like the weak link is how you run dungeons, if I'm to judge by your...

    D&D 5E (2014) Awarding Inspiration

Yeah, I haven't yet seen a mechanic that I completely love to ID D&D monsters. So I just role play it, usually. IMC, the process would probably go like this (assuming a not-so-inspired player): Player: Can I ID this monster somehow? Me: You're not proficient in arcana. But it's a well known...

    D&D 5E (2014) Maps on a monitor. Fog of War. Roll20

There's fog of war in the free version--but it's not dynamic (which means the DM has to keep it updated during the game, and all players see the same thing.) If you're a subscriber, then you get dynamic fog of war and players automatically see what's in their own LOS, which is absolutely...

    D&D 5E (2014) Awarding Inspiration

Thanks! In my games, I don't usually make players pay to ID monsters. If it's a common monster or if they have the correct prof then I usually just tell them what generally they know about the monster. If it's a little more obscure, then I ask them what their source of knowledge is (e.g...

    D&D 5E (2014) Awarding Inspiration

Well, they have to follow the criteria: inspiration gets awarded only for role playing the traits flaws and bonds; and only if the're played in a somewhat novel way that works out to a disadvantage or risk to the group. But as long as that's the criteria they're using, then yeah its up to them.

    D&D 5E (2014) Awarding Inspiration

I set aside time at the end of each session for players to award inspiration to each other. Keeps it simple and easy, and gives players a good idea as to the pace at which they might receive it.

D&D 5E (2014) I Am One of the Few Who Plays D&D in Japan

I play on roll20. I also advertise on roll20; when you advertise on that site, it's by time zone so basically all of Australia can queue to play in your games. When you can, stick with recruiting Australians rather than xpats in the rest of asia, because frankly xpats don't tend to have very...

D&D 5E (2014) I Am One of the Few Who Plays D&D in Japan

Weird--that's been the opposite of my experience. Of course, I play D&D almost exclusively online: I highly doubt I'll ever find a group of role players in close physical proximity to my house.

    D&D 5E (2014) Riddle Me This

    That's a tendentious claim.

    D&D 5E (2014) Riddle Me This

I use 'em, but I make sure to put some thought into the setup, and think long and hard first about whether I want something there that could potentially eat up a half hour or more of game time. If I'm putting a puzzle in, it's not going to be solved with an intelligence check. But depending on...

WotC's Chris Perkins Talks Realms & Sundering

Maybe it's the nog talking, but I don't understand. For the last two years they've done nothing but talk about the realms.
