    Stigma and Parental backlash

Lie and say that you're playing Pathfinder. That'll learn 'em.

BIG DEAL: Post Reports Show Up in the All Discussion Tab

I can also see (but not open) threads on Octopus Rock--which I assume is the mod subforum, judging by contents.

BIG DEAL: Post Reports Show Up in the All Discussion Tab

And I just realized I can see infraction notices too.

The edition wars have hit a new low

I don't think their actions made D&D fans look like the kind of people who burn books rather than face ideas. That's an over-the-top, hysterical interpretation of what they did. I think their actions made D&D fans look like the kind of people who have excessively strong opinions about the game...

The edition wars have hit a new low

I'm not connecting with this. I'm pretty sure that spitting on people is intended to be personal. Spitting on things is the opposite of personal, unless there's some kind of mutual understanding that the thing in question is a symbol for the other person. I agree with your wife.

BIG DEAL: Post Reports Show Up in the All Discussion Tab

I can who made the reports, and--via the tooltip--private details of the reports. These things are not anonymous, ATM! http://www.enworld.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?500-All-Discussion

The edition wars have hit a new low

Don't disagree except for maybe mean-spirited. Personally I feel about this the same way I would feel if it had been organized by Pat Robertson: it's as dumb as stumps, but the applicable property laws are very clear and his bonfire isn't hurting me any.

The edition wars have hit a new low

I think that's completely bonkers, especially in the age of electronic books. But there's no arguing with morals.

The edition wars have hit a new low

If you merely find it tacky and ridiculous, then my post was not directed at you--obviously.

The edition wars have hit a new low

The real tragedy is that some people are so caught up in the edition wars that they take what bryce0lynch does with his personal property, personally.

    D&D 5E (2014) Second guessing WOTC

Yeah, I just don't think new players are going to be impressed by that mode of homage.

    D&D 5E (2014) Speculating about the future of the D&D industry/community in a post-5E world

I think the wotc staff has made it excruciatingly clear with both words and actions that messageboard forums are not representative of the market. Whether you want to believe them is another matter, of course.

    D&D 5E (2014) Second guessing WOTC

I don't think that's terribly meaningful--the poll was taken after the subjects were placed under different psychological pressures than that of an actual buyer at the decision point in the store. I would also argue that the subjects were not making a well informed decision re: long term value...

    D&D 5E (2014) Speculating about the future of the D&D industry/community in a post-5E world

I think that the size of the D&D team relative to Pathfinder's is sad only if you think that wotc should follow the same in-house development strategy as Paizo.

Interesting Decisions vs Wish Fulfillment (from Pulsipher)

That's completely fair. I dislike "crunch" and "fluff" for more or less the same reason.

Interesting Decisions vs Wish Fulfillment (from Pulsipher)

Fair enough--though I don't believe these terms are nearly as catchy (and therefore not as internet-ready) as CaS and CaW. I would agree that they're more accurate, and probably less likely to get used as cudgels in an internet fight. To kick the tires a little bit, if the sig in question read...

    D&D 5E (2014) Would a Sha'ir be a sorcerer or a warlock?

The key thing about the Sha'ir is that they get extreme spell flexibility in exchange for multi-round casting times. As such, I don't think either the warlock or sorcerer is a suitable match. Personally, I'd just straight up copy the old 2E Shar'ir casting time chart, and then give them some...

Interesting Decisions vs Wish Fulfillment (from Pulsipher)

I would have a lot more respect for this viewpoint if you provided us with your alternative preferred terms.
