    D&D 5E (2014) Enlarge beyond Large

If we go with the version of enlarge posted above (double weapon damage dice, as per the DMG and MM), it would be most effective to enlarge the character with the most powerful weapon. The greataxe vs. greatsword become 2d12 and 4d6 respectively. That's an average of 13 for the axe and 14 for...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Playtesters: How Was It?

The first public playtest was awesome. It was so "basic." You have an elf, a dwarf, and a cleric, and you're going into a nonsensical dungeon just because it's there.

    D&D 5E (2014) Converting Nazin Redthorn to 5E

Half-Red Dragon Veteran (MM p. 180) seems perfect.

    D&D 5E (2014) CR 3/4?

But then you'd have your custom monsters' CRs not mach the Monster Manual CRs. I think a better solution would be to always round up (to match the Monster Manual's tendency to err on the side of making monsters weaker), and alter the encounter building tables.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Large-Print Character Sheet

Not that I know of, but I'll have a go at making one. What font size would you recommend at minimum?

D&D 5E (2014) Battlemap Vs. Theater of the Mind

I prefer battlemaps as a player if they're done well, but TotM is lovely for a lazy DM like me. My current players are so acclimated to TotM that even when I do bust out the Dwarven Forge or Tact-Tiles, they say things like "I run after him and hit him" without even moving their minis.

    D&D 5E (2014) Hurry up and wait!

House rule for additional downtime: In-game time is analogous to real-life time. Each session is one expedition. At the end of each session, you go back to town. For every real-life day between sessions, your character spends a day in town.

    D&D 5E (2014) Starting Tyranny at 3rd Level?

For what it's worth, I really do believe the first half of HotDQ is the roughest part of the whole campaign. Given you're starting at higher level anyway, it would be easier to skip it than to polish it. Chapters 1-5 are (to quote your other thread) "error-ridden railroads" where the players...

    D&D 5E (2014) So, 5e OGL

Hey, if you don't like this thread, don't view it or post in it. Simple. As an OGL hopeful, I really appreciate the monthly check-in.

    D&D 5E (2014) Starting Tyranny at 3rd Level?

Overrule them. Actually, starting at 3rd would improve the adventure a lot. You can skip the terrible early chapters, and get right to the mediocre later chapters.

D&D 5E (2014) Labyrinth as metaphor for madness

Sure. Dungeon crawl. Except instead of wandering monsters, you roll periodically to see if madness has taken hold yet. Check out the Abyssal Corruption table, DMG p.62.

Awesome! I would love a .doc version.

D&D 5E (2014) Advice on old dungeon modules

A dungeon similar to the Caverns of Thracia, an old-school sandboxy megadungeon by the artist formerly known as Paul Jacquays. Recommended reading: http://thealexandrian.net/wordpress/13085/roleplaying-games/jaquaying-the-dungeon

D&D 5E (2014) Considering "taking the 5th" (Edition); questions for those more experienced.

"Enough" is a relative term. If you want no magic at all, these are the class options you have left: Fighter Battle Master Champion Rogue Thief Assassin Barbarian Berserker Spell-less Ranger (untested variant from a recent article) Hunter Beast Master Ranger (1st level only) Monk...

Princes of the Apocalypse Basic Rules Supplement

It's a great concept--I can use the free PDFs instead of having to bring the Monster Manual and DMG to every session. It is a little clumsy, though. It would be nice if I didn't have to constantly flip back to the DM Basic Rules every time I wanted the Orc stat block, for example. It stands to...

    D&D 5E (2014) So,whats up with those half orcs?

I am actually strongly considering replacing orcs with Klingons. At least Klingons have a few mildly interesting aspects ("honor," Kahless, a fully realized language, the bat'leth, cloaking, conspiracies, hipocracy, bloodwine). Orcs have zero interesting aspects (they're dumb, evil, violent...
