How to keep women in the game?

I think it depends on the specific woman, to be honest. Averages are good, but they have limits. About player’s girlfriends/boyfriends leaving: this happens everywhere, all the time. Many (not saying most) boyfriends/girlfriends aren’t just interested in the game and just want to please their...

Essentials : What to Use and What to Lose? Can of Worms

I thought something similar, too. In order to gain spells back, spellcasters just cannot rest and study/pray anywhere: they must be in very calm, stable places. Basically, they just cannot do it in a dungeon or out on the wilderness: they must return to an inn, or laboratory, or altar, anything...

Essentials : What to Use and What to Lose? Can of Worms

Me too, but I would like to simplify things. I’ll already deal with the math – expertise feats and such – and I like to create my own monsters, so it’s best for me to just choose one of them and go. When I DM 4e Classic, probably the only thing missing (in terms of concepts) is the Shadow power...

Essentials : What to Use and What to Lose? Can of Worms

Which is one of the many things I don’t like in 5e: Magic is easy, powerful, frequent, safe, pretty much everyone has it and there’s no strategy or planning associated with it. I eventually gave up on 5e. It does have some nice things, but… Just nope. Well, getting back on topic: I usually...

On character wealth an d game balance

Well, yeah, it’s the book price, not resale price. I’ve faced this question, too: 1e books specifically tells you the prices there are hyper-inflated by a sudden burst of money coming in. “Oh my, those adventurers found a huge pile of cash! Put two zeroes on those prices! No, to the right, not...

    We're Finally Mainstream! Now What?

I'll buy and play the game as I've always did. If anyone wants to come in, they are accepted. The reverse is also true. I actually dislike D&D 5e with a black passion. However, if people are interested in a system I actually like, then that might be a good thing. Getting new engaged players in...

Help me with D&D Lore: Beneath the Waves

I’m going through AD&D 2nd Edition right now, and some books may be interesting to this purpose: DMGR4: Monster Mythology probably has some deities from the undersea (among many demihuman, humanoid and monster deities). GA1 The Murky Deep, is an adventure taking place mainly underwater. I bought...

    Realm Handbooks + Poll

I see. Every setting in AD&D included special rules for it – some more than others. Mixing technology and magic is a favorite of my, although I used to choose a more futuristic one – I don’t know how I’ll do my next setting. About Final Fantasy… You touched my weak spot. Huge fan, love all games...

    Realm Handbooks + Poll

That sounds interesting! But some questions are still present: What exactly it is? A retroclone itself? An expansion? Setting book? The setting is a huge mix of cultures, but what more can be said about it? Technology, level of magic, etc.? I like many classes. Any of them worth of mention –...

D&D General DMs Guild Classics POD & PDF Wishlist

Sounds like 2e Dark Sun is complete. That's a good thing. I'm still waiting for PHBR14 The Complete Barbarian's Handbook: it will be crucial for my campaign.

    Multiple KITs

Which kit is available for a Fighter/Thief depends on the race, but all of those races have at least one of them in the complete books. Examples include Ghetto Fighter (dwarf) and Huntsmen (elf). Edit: with the previews at dmsguild/drivethrurpg you can se where they are. Historical books may...

That's an interesting idea. It would value classic area attacks more hehe.

Classic D&D of All Eras Back In Print

Nice! ^^ I was waiting for The Complete Gladiator's Handbook. Now the only one missing is The Complete Barbarian's Handbook ^^

Combats and Ressources (again...) - How to condense Adventures

The most important thing is that, they just cannot know when they’ll rest. Ever. This creates tension and makes them play more carefully with daily resources. With that granted… Yes, I would just cut some/many encounters to make the adventure shorter. Perhaps with a Skill Challenge of just some...

    Retrofuturism: Sandalpunk and Candlepunk

doctorbadwolf that was insightful. I perhaps will look further with this information. Thanks! Celebrim here we go… First, remember that genre definitions aren’t as clear as someone (like me) may want. Especially in speculative fiction. Science fiction itself is vague. So is fantasy. And don’t...

    Retrofuturism: Sandalpunk and Candlepunk

1: I was specifically talking about Formicapunk/Cassette Futurism when I talked about what you like or don’t like. Perhaps I was not clear. 2: Hahahahahahahahahaha Well, I guess what I wanted to say is: I don’t want to get into an internet fight. My main objective here is finding information I...

    Retrofuturism: Sandalpunk and Candlepunk

Well, I'll cut out the discussion about Formicapunk. This isn't what this thread is about. I think, if I want to contribute with the genre (which I would do), it will be in another thread, with people a little more enthusiastic about it. No offense: I won't say what you should like or not. It's...

    Retrofuturism: Sandalpunk and Candlepunk

I didn't mention the others because I already have a pretty good idea about them. About Formicapunk; I saw only some people criticizing the term. It appears to be its own thing. It's even in TV Tropes. I liked it and it fits the retrofuturism genre and agenda.

    Retrofuturism: Sandalpunk and Candlepunk

Things are getting clearer now. Thank you for your help. As someone with OCD, it is terribly satisfying to know that, as of now, all of our past has an associated retrofuturist genre.
