Played AD&D yesterday (using Appendix A for a random dungeon)

Well, I think that playing a considerably older system will have some “peculiarities” compared to new systems, and players probably will see this. The question is, if the good stuff is worth it ;) Also, if you want to encourage out-of-combat game, the best choice is giving extra XP for...

D&D 5E (2014) Sacred Cow Bites The Dust.

Honestly, there is a certain appeal in XP for both my players and I. I already killed XP but eventually cast a Wish and brought it back. It’s just fun to keep those numbers somewhere on your character sheet. However, XP is rewarded in different manners: I give XP for missions and accomplished...

How to follow up running Die Vecna Die

If it is as bad as you tell, then creating new characters is the best choice. But in which character level the adventure finishes? And more importantly, will you use 5e or AD&D 2e? Because if it’s the former, I’m useless at your request :D

    D&D 5E (2014) CHALLENGE: Change one thing about 5e

I hope I’m not late, but I actually agree with you. At least most of it. Vancian magic is awesome! The only problem was how it scales compared to other classes. Cantrips also annoy me, at least when every caster gets is. The idea that everyone needs to have free-magic just seems strange. The...

D&D 4E Throwing ideas, seeing what sticks (and what stinks)

Well, there’s a character I made in my old 4e campaign, and which I will create in the new one too: an ultra-mighty, 10 feet tall Kobold which goes by the name Klubba. He would be about a 35th to 40th level Solo back then. That should tell you something about level ranges :D

    What are people homebrewing?

I’m glad you’re willing to help! Thanks. From these I’m leaning towards feitiçaria (sorcery), or taumaturgia (thaumaturgy). Erudito (erudite) is linked to knowledge, albeit not in an “occult” way. Oculto (occult) and esotérico (esoteric) are similar to arcano (arcane), which can be good or...

    What are people homebrewing?

Well, I’m doing something like this. I’ll reduce spell lists across the board, and I would like to use the term “Arcane” somewhere else. However, I still like “generalist” wizards, so I’m having trouble finding another name for the broad category of “non-priestly” magic. I should also tell that...

    What are people homebrewing?

Well, I have been working on my own RPG system. Right now I stopped to DM other stuff, but otherwise, slowly getting there! It’s not a 4e-clone, however. It takes ideas from various editions, and I have my own spin in the game – which will demand some decent amount of creativity. It looks good...

D&D 4E Throwing ideas, seeing what sticks (and what stinks)

I don’t know whose idea it is, but it’s awesome! I would totally play (and buy) that! I’ll be honest: I like D&D’s style. With that I’m thinking more about the feel and tone than real mechanics. But the market has its good share of D&D-clones. Although 4e doesn’t have a clone, cloning it...

Can a neutral cleric of a neutral deity cast good/evil lawful/chaotic spells?

I actually like 3rd Edition’s description. It includes both “I don’t care” with “balance of the universe”. Thing is, the first one is very important, because neutrality, in both axis, as described by 3rd E, happens a lot. For Good and Evil, for example, it’s not that people want evil rulers, but...

Can a neutral cleric of a neutral deity cast good/evil lawful/chaotic spells?

Well, I repeat: if a Cleric of Poseidon (or other similar water deity) gets Firestorm, and a Cleric of Amaterasu (or other sun deity) gets Earthquake, then I think non-opposing alignment spells are fine. Honestly, I still think 3.5’s rules about Clerics to be rather… odd. I’ll read AD&D 2e, so...

Can a neutral cleric of a neutral deity cast good/evil lawful/chaotic spells?

Well, I think this means nothing. All spells in the “normal” Cleric spell list are available for all Clerics, save for the “no opposing alignment" restriction. Yes, one could ask why the cleric has a fire spell if his god is Poseidon, but... That is how the rules are written.

    Blade… Singer?

Thank you. That was what I wanted to know. I think this settles the issue. Sorry if I was annoying; Google just doesn’t work all the time for me (yes, I tried that before). On a side note: I think I won’t have much problem about this in my game. Nobody in my group even remotely enjoys...

    Blade… Singer?

Guy thanks. Basically, I’m trying to figure out how the Bladesinger is different from the other gish options, including fluff. In 4e, I already know that, it isn’t much different. But I wish to know more about 2e, since it’s the system I’m going to play in the near future. Hahahahaha oh guy...

    Blade… Singer?

^ Thanks. That answers me on 4e grounds. Does anyone know about his 2e version? Or other versions?

    Blade… Singer?

Blade… Singer? Hey guys! It’s me, again. Before I start with my plans about the new class I’m going to create, I wish to ask for some fluff – and mechanical – information. What is a Bladesinger? I saw this name in many places but I don’t have a good enough idea of what he/she is and what he/she...

    Samurai concept

That's a balance issue for me. Anyway, you get my point. Not talking about the CW samurai. I'm talking about D&D samurai in the general sense.

    Samurai concept

Well, I do understand your view. In fact, I partially agree: we don’t need Samurai as a different class. But classes are not about what we need. They are about what we want. If the opposite was true, we would only have 2 classes. Better yet: no classes are needed; point-buy systems work just...

    Samurai concept

Something I’ll change in my homebrew system!!! But, just for notes, I’ve seen Samurai done as a good class. There are some fan-adaptations of the Final Fantasy series to table-top systems. They appear good to me. And, of course, there’s the series itself. But, in my honest opinion, it’s a...

    Class Building Guide?

I believe the Player’s Option series has some thoughts about that. According to Dorian_Grey, his classes used these books as a basis. I have some classes in mind to create too. Warming up my design skills. Hope they end out good :D
